Today happens to be World Refugee Day, dedicated to a community, a race, a sect of humanity displaced from their habitat, seeking refuge in someone's home. But rarely does it so happen that they end up making that home better and way more beautiful than it could've been otherwise. A prime example of the same is a recent visit to the Town of Bir, a place where Tibetan refugees have settled since decades and so has their gorgeous architecture, beautiful Monasteries, lip smacking cuisine and hippy culture.
Sipping coffee in a Tibetan cafe one evening I heard the sound of Bugle being played atop The Choukling Monastery, I didn't wanna Miss it and thus rushed to see the monastery decked up as a bride, and past the flight of stairs reached the terrace, where two young monks were playing to their hearts capacity yet were looking at something intently, I got closer and started taking a few pics and they wouldn't budge, just kept staring afront, it was when I got behind them is when I saw the two of'em were watching a FIFA World Cup match (swipe left) !!
That moment in time is perhaps one when I had the heartiest laugh in a long time. It's actually very true, our culture, our land, our cuisine would never have been the same had we not welcomed people from all cultures.
"A bundle of belongings isn't the only thing a refugee brings to his new country." - Albert Einstein (A Refugee)
