It’s been a month since I blasted it out to all of social media that I want to embrace a healthy lifestyle. Yesterday I had a cheeseburger for lunch and pizza for dinner - so to say I’ve not found a way to conquer this goal completely yet is an understatement. What I’ve found is this: the scale doesn’t have to be the only thing that defines success, cheat days don’t ruin the balanced days if you don’t let them, and I have one amazing circle of friends who are so encouraging and have helped me stay motivated - many who have joined in this journey with me!
I have got a long ways to go, but the weights in the photo are in the “bro” area of the gym where big dudes lift heavy things while grunting loudly doing so...scary stuff...and I confidently stand next to them lifting my light weights with my far from perfectly toned body, and I feel good about it - and to my surprise, they are mostly all really kind people who are just working hard on their own goals, so silly me for being intimidated in the first place. Cardio sucks, but I’m slowly finding my passion for running again by jogging to the gym instead of driving. I have been walking places whenever possible and have found it’s not only good for my physical health, but it’s an easy and peaceful way to clear my mind from the crud and enjoy the beauty of the world around us. And although the scale is moving incredibly slow because I have indulged in the goodness of food, beer and ice cream far too many times, I feel better than I have in years. We tend to forget that baby steps still move us forward, so celebrate the victories and try not to get down on yourself for the slip ups. After all, we are human and messing up is a little too easy at times.
Anyways...if you’re in the same boat as me, I hope you find it encouraging to know that you’re not alone and that making the changes is freaking hard. Keep believing in yourself, I know you can do it! Get in touch if you want to do this with me, I am more than happy to have some more accountability partners! ♀️ #fitforlife #healthylifestyle #encouragement #youvegotthis #cardioishardio
