So...I ran a half marathon this morning and it was rough. I started out at about 7:20 pace and was feeling great! It felt challenging, but like I would be able to maintain it throughout the race. But, at about mile 6, the wind started picking up. It was a tailwind then, but when we turned around at mile 7, we were running directly into wind that was about 10 mph with gusts over 20 mph. I felt so exhausted the whole rest of the way, and I don’t know if it was more because of the wind or if I went out too fast, but hardly anyone passed me in the second half, so most people were really struggling too. Most of my splits from the second half were in the 7:40’s and 7:50’s, which I was pretty discouraged about, but that was the pace I ran my previous PR at, so to be running that pace while feeling awful is still an improvement! Of course after I finished, I wondered if I had just given up mentally and really could have gone faster, but my average heart rate was 188, so I was pushing as hard as I could! Overall, I am happy with a 2 and a half minute PR and reaching my goal of breaking 1:40, but I am frustrated that I feel like I wasn’t able to fully show my fitness. Now it’s time to recover and then move forward into marathon training! The thought of being in pain for more than twice as long as I was today is definitely scary and not super inviting at this moment, but I really am excited to see what I can do (and get to run slower)!

I never started this account with the intention of building a following. In fact I tried my best to keep this account a secret for the longest time, and well, that didn’t really turn out all that well 😏. Instagram for me has always been a little online journal, and the fact that ANYONE finds my ‘journey’ interesting enough to follow along still honestly gobsmacks me!😳 But more than just a journal, my number one reason for starting (and keeping) this account, has always been about community and connection.
Adopting a healthy lifestyle is hard. Going it alone is even harder, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without this account and connecting with likeminded individuals who have helped support me all of the way.
One of those beautiful souls I connected with right from the beginning was @whitlayne and never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined, that three years later she would be visiting me from the other side of the world 🌍 and I’d have the chance to show her around my home town of Melbourne. She is every bit as kind, funny and drop dead gorgeous as she is on her IG, and I’m so lucky to now be able to call her a ‘real life’ 😂 friend.
The rest of these beauties, I’ve already had a chance to meet. We’ve supported each other through the good and the bad. Celebrated weddings, and babies, and everything in between, and for all of the cons of social media, it’s times like these that make me remember there are SO many pros too ❤️.

🔥Make sure for lunges you’re only using your front leg! It’s tempting to push off with your back leg, but trust me- really focusing on driving through your heel and mid foot (or front of your foot for more quad emphasis!), of your front leg to get the most out of the exercise😜

☕Caffeine should be the first ingredient you think of when it comes to pre-workout supplementation. It has been proven to be effective on strength and endurance (Timmins et al., 2014, Warren et al., 2010), with the effective dosage being roughly 3mg/kg (Desbrow et al., 2012). I recommend taking it in pill form to know the exact dosage you’re taking (& it’s cheaper)✔️

🏋️Creatine, although can be taken pre or post, it fits nicely into a pre-workout drink. It is arguably the most researched sport supplement out there and there’s a plethora of studies in its favour. Its benefits include increased strength, power output, endurance and anaerobic capacity (Arciero et al., 2001, Herda et al., 2009, Kendall et al., 2009)✔️

🚴Citrulline Malate is a great addition to your pre-workout stack. It acts to increase arginine levels in the blood thus raising nitric oxide levels. This causes vasodilation, not only giving you a sick pump, but also being beneficial to performance. It’s also been proven to increase oxidative ATP production and improve recovery with a dosage of 4-6g (Guisado 2010, Brendahan et al., 2002)✔️

Le fait que la whey viennent très souvent du fromage à quelque peu dénigré l’image de celle ci car quand on parle de petit-lait on parle souvent de résidus fromagers et ce terme s’est rapidement transformer en "déchets fromagers" qui a donc une connotation très négative 👎

La whey a donc eu rapidement l’image d’un produit de basse qualité, le marché a donc dû s’adapter et on trouve aujourd’hui des whey 100% laitières issues directement du lait de vaches, on l’appelle alors la whey Native mais tu t’en doutes cette qualité a un prix 😉

Je vais te donner mon avis, que ta whey soit native ne la rend pour autant pas plus efficace, aucune étude a démontré que la whey native a plus d’impact pour la progression musculaire qu’une whey basique issue du petit-lait, il n’y a d’ailleurs jamais eu d’études tout court à ce sujet 😉

Tu l’auras par contre compris ta whey native va parfois coûter jusqu’à 3 ou même 4 fois le prix d’une whey classique, mais si l’origine de ta whey a une importance et que la qualité t’importe la whey native reste un excellent produit ! 👍
