A (flex) Friday tip!
If you are trying to improve your health and fitness or lose weight, you have to approach your weekend with moderation.

I constantly hear people claim they eat well and exercise all week then completely go off the rails on the weekend.

You can achieve your goals and still enjoy your life and social events, but it takes some planning.

If you have an event on Saturday night, be sure to manage the rest of your weekend accordingly. Make smart nutrition choices during the day and try to move. If you can’t get in a workout, use your free time to get some exercise. Bike ride, swim etc.

Also, you can still attend an event or dinner and make smart choices.
A little planning and discipline will ensure you stay on track and don’t regret the way you feel on Monday!

Do you feel like you yo-yo you’re weight loss focus? One week you’re super focused, make good choices and then the next you’re all over the place?
Before you do an entire lifestyle overhaul, I want you to ask yourself one question:

WHERE CAN I ADD MORE CONSISTENCY?
Consistency breeds results with anything.

If you are wanting to improve your health, body and fitness, do a mental check of where you need more consistency. My biggest piece of advice is to do this in small increments. Too many changes all at once can be overwhelming and hard for you to integrate into a habitual routine.

So what’s your focus for this next week?
Consistent water intake per day, cardio sessions per week, removing a certain food you know aggregates you, getting to the gym, getting to sleep earlier, staying away from restaurant foods, taking your supplements etc
I could go on and on.
There are a lot of pieces that need to be in place for you to have lasting fitness results.
It’s better to be GREAT at a few things, then to be all out with everything, only to get burnt out and give up the whole process.

It's incredible how much growth and progress you can make in such a few short years when you invest in yourself, step out of that boring comfort zone, and take consistent, inspired action.

I highly recommend taking “before” pictures as well as progress pictures along the way.

I have my clients do this. Not only does it help me as a coach with making adjustments, but it will help you see how far you’ve come!

Building on the last post about how emotional decisions can have negative affects on nutrition and training programming. A more specific example is when people or coaches become too cornered and strict when it comes to one model of thinking. People often have a blatant or subconscious tendency to implement things that they shouldn't for the wrong reasons. For example, the coach who is only paleo, zone, flexible dieting OR linear progression, high volume, or low volume will throw that bias into their work based on their emotional attachments to that specific style. Rather than see the whole picture unemotionally, they do not see the reality that the one-size-fits-all mentality does not work and that model may not be appropriate for a host of reasons. Here's a tip: pretty much any solid training or diet plan will work. Who they will work for varies person to person and that is the difference. Knowing what will work for who and at which time and for what application is the key. •

TIGHT FROM SITTING AT A DESK ALL DAY??

What’s up Achievers?! @laurenpak22 here and today we have another great stretch for those of you who feel tight from sitting all day!
-
This one requires a small medicine ball, or you could use a yoga block or anything else that props your bottom hand slightly off the ground! To set up, place your right hand on the medicine ball and your left hand on the floor and get into pushup position. Then step your left foot up so it’s outside your left hand. To perform the mobilization, follow these steps:
-
1️⃣Reach your left hand through the open space between your right arm and leg. When you’ve reached as far as you can, wrap your arm around your rib cage.
2️⃣Hold on to your rib cage and rotate, pulling your left shoulder as far back as possible. Make sure you’re only rotating through your upper back and rib cage (not your lower back!)
3️⃣Reach your left hand toward the ceiling.
4️⃣Repeat several times on that side, then switch!

We love this combination because it hits all the major areas that get tight from too much sitting! The Spider-Man lunge position opens up the hips, and the rib grab with rotation loosens up the upper back and shoulders! So much benefit in this one move! Be sure to swipe left for a video demonstration so you’re really clear on how to perform it!

House sitting staycation is wrapping up 👌 Has it been a success? Yes and no. Short on time or just sick of boring, drawn out cardio? I don’t do long specific cardio anymore, I don’t have time to prioritise a 45 min run as well as strength work. However, my strength workouts incorporate cardio with the high intensity I train at so I prefer to knock of two things at once- cardio and strength.. .
