#SIDEBAR: When I was a child (mid to late 1960s) the only #oreocookie available was the #vanillacreme center. I hated this. I used to scrape out the center and eat the #wafers. The #chocolatecream center only came along several years ago. I don't understand how it took #nabisco so long to put #chocolate in the center. To this day they are not an easy find.

14 years ago, a friend from culinary school shared with me her favorite recipe for no-knead bread from the NY Times. I have never looked back since. I memorized the recipe a couple of batches later and have made this recipe probably 500 times already. I see it as a staple in our house when bread is needed. Though I don't eat bread myself, this is one fermented bread my stomach can handle. Thanks to this detail alone, I'm happy to make it for my loved ones anytime they need a fresh loaf. I have made it with different flours as diets require and even with spelt or ancient grain flours, this dense bread had bubbles of joy and an ideal crunchy crust trimming your butter vehicle. It takes just under 23 hours to make (only about 45 mins hands-on) and its worth every second! What's your favorite staple recipe in your house? Hey friends! 🌺 Hope the beginning of the semester has been great for you all. I know it has been for me! I’ve been busy with school and my extracurriculars but I think I’ve done a pretty decent job at making time for myself. So here’s a reminder to take time out of each week and hang out with friends, take fitness classes, explore a part of campus, etc. ०

Today was definitely a long day and I had a late lunch so I whipped myself this quick mini smoothie bowl for dinner. Not very hungry, but I loaded it with chia seeds inside and on top to stay full for the rest of the night. (Mainly to prevent myself from binging on flaming hot cheetos😅) ०

Here’s how: Blend @noosayoghurt lemon yogurt, a full banana, chia seeds, and frozen berries. I topped mine with chopped almonds and more chia seeds! 🍌🍓🍋 ०

See if the restaurant has a warm salad or have a warm veggie side as an appetizer. Warm food tends to keep you more satisfied. ❤️Keep the sauces and dressings on the side and stay in control!

Para esta saludable y deliciosa receta necesitas: ¾ tazas de quinoa, 1 taza de avena en copos, 1 huevo entero, 1 clara de huevo, 1 taza de leche de almendras, 1 cdta. de royal, sal, canela al gusto y aceite de coco. Preparación: coloca un sartén a calentar a fuego bajo, agrega la avena, el huevo y la clara, el royal, la sal y la canela, así como la leche en la licuadora para formar una mezcla homogénea y espesa. La quinoa previamente cocida la incorporas a la mezcla, luego de esto al sartén le untas el aceite de coco y viertes la mezcla dejándola cocer 3 minutos por cada lado y listo. Lo puedes acompañar con frutas de tu elección.

Yummy lunch today for about 400 calories. I bought these O Naturals black bean balls and they were a tasty crunchy treat along with these low-fat frozen fries. When it comes to high-calorie dips and dressings like the ranch dressing Im.using here, I am consistantly using measuring spoons to keep my calorie expenditures in check. And balsamic vinegar is my BFF for salads when the rest of my meal already has plenty of fat in it.

So there’s a trend right now where people try to avoid eating carbs or say they wouldn’t want to go vegan or eat more plant-based because they’d be eating mostly carbs. The truth is that’s a good thing! As long as they’re the right kind of carb.

There are 2 different kinds of carbs: complex carbs and simple carbs. These 2 often get put together as just carbs but they’re completely different! Complex carbs are nutrient packed and found in fruits, veggies, whole grains and beans. Simple carbs are referred to as the empty calorie carbs because they offer very little nutritional benefit and are found in refined flours and sugars like donuts, soft drinks, candies, etc. .

Both of these carbs will have very different effects on our body in terms of health and weight. Complex carbs will actually help you lose weight, where simple carbs will lead to weight gain. .
