been craving savory waffles for awhile now, so i made it happen. i found these @birchbenders grain-free waffles (not sponsored) on sale at sprouts, recently (buy one, get one free 😱) and i’m so glad i stocked up, because they are actually really good. for this, i just sautéed some bell peppers, mushrooms, and cherry tomatoes, fried up an egg, added lots of raw butter and some avo, and finished it off with pea sprouts. definitely making this again. 👏🏻 #eatwellbewell #nourishyourbody

Herbs are amazing tools and it's good to know that there are herbs that can assist in every major area of health. Even modern issues like chronic pain, antibiotic resistance, autoimmune disorders ( which did you know 1 in 3 americans have?), Lyme disease, sleep disorders and cancer. Those are a few issues and there are many others and herbs all have supportive roles in the daily comforts and self care we need to heal. I think more than the herbs themselves ( though they do open us up to mental and emotional changes too) is integrative medicines ability to help people see themselves as informed forces of change. Being aware of how our bodies heal on their own makes us part of the process and more connected to the whole. America is one of the only places that has purposefully broken away from herbal medicine and this is to our detriment. Relationship to the land and its easy and accessible plant medicine are something that 80% of all countries of the world do. In most places ( including pockets of the US) The traditional knowledge has evolved for modern times. It is time for all of us in this part of the world to reconnect. To demand better more broad spectrum care. More kindness and sensitive language from practitioners. Less selling of awful meds with terrible side effects. More options. And I see it happening more and more, the ache to know ones land stories is one I see over and over again. I love my purpose at being a bridge for folks to access this knowledge.

Simplify! ✨ If I had a magic wand, I would make cooking/eating nutritious meals suuuuuuper easy. Well today, I am fresh out of magic wands. (Dang. 😏) But here is my formula for an easy meal.
1️⃣ Heat up some kind of compliant oil in a saucepan.
2️⃣ Throw in random veggies you have ALREADY chopped up and stored, in order of firmness. (Quick-cooking veg goes last.)
3️⃣ Throw in some protein. (Tuna from @wildselectionsfoods shown here.)
4️⃣ Add something with a punch to it, for example olives, capers, or maybe some kind of freshly squeezed citrus juice.

Voilà! Lunch! If you take your lunch to work, do this the night before, then nuke it at work the following day.
👉🏼NOTE: DO NOT use fish in something you intend to heat up at work, unless you want your co-workers to give you the side eye all afternoon for introducing a fishy smell to the circulating air! 😆

The hubs is battling a case of the sniffles 🤧 so I decided to make him a big bowl of Chicken Soup - minus the noodles. This is actually super Keto friendly, even tho he’s not stick Keto I made it so I could have some if I wanted! 🙊There is one stalk of celery & one carrot cut up for for the whole batch so no worries! Made with yummy bone broth, shredded chicken, heavy cream, turmeric for the great health benefits & color it brings, thyme, salt & pepper to taste! Chicken soup always seems to make ya feel better & soothes the soul for some reason. We do tend to get some cold winters here in MN so this one will definitely be in the rotation for the cooler months! Happy Tuesday everyone hope y’all are having a great day!!☺️💞

JULY 2017 vs. SEPTEMBER 2018:
Not only did these shorts once fit, but they were slightly too small. Now look at em, they're basically hanging off my hips. I always get the "What's your workout routine like?!" inquiries, and I constantly have to reiterate THAT I DONT HAVE ONE. My weight loss is 100% due to my diet. I honestly feel that consuming dairy products caused me so much internal inflammation that I didn't even realize I had, because I assumed that's just the way my body was. It was the way it'd always been. Once I cut dairy out, the weight has literally melted off. Now this is the part where people assume I adhere to a "strict" diet, that I'm some joyless lettuce eating drudge. And I'm here to tell you, besides cutting all animal products out, I STILL EAT WHATEVER I WANT. Chips, pizza, pasta, burgers. I still drink beer and liquor. THE KEY IS MODERATION. In fact half of the fun in all of this is straying away from the vegetarian cooking I became so accustomed to, and teaching myself to make vegan versions of all my favorite foods. People always think it's harder than it is. I feel that I've sacrificed nothing but have gained more than I could imagine, physically and mentally. I am 8 1/2 months into this whole vegan thing and I promise you the hardest thing to come to terms with isn't what you can/cannot eat. It's understanding that you've been lied to and manipulated your entire life.

Good morning my friends! A lovely bowl of coconut oats topped with berries, banana, nectarines and strawberries. My current fruit obsession for the time being. ☺️

Coconut Overnight Oats
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 tbsp shredded coconut
1 tbsp ground flax seed
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Pinch nutmeg
1 mashed banana
1/2 cup coconut milk
Pinch of salt (optional) 🥣

Combine everything except the banana. Stir to combine, seal and place in fridge overnight. In the morning stir in banana and adjust flavors as need be. 🥣
