Pictured here is a Damascus knife from one of the American Bladesmith Society Founders Don Hastings.
Hastings was the third person in American history to create Damascus.
On December 4th, 1976 in a small coffee shop in Shreveport, LA, all three of the above along with knife writer and historian B.R. Hughes established the American Bladesmith Society.
Hastings passed in 1986 from Leukemia.
This historical knife is currently on display at Vulcan Knife, Tacoma, WA
Vulcan Knife is owned and operated by Veteran and Master Bladesmith Paul Inman who studied the forged blade under the late Bill Moran.
Without Bill Moran the art of the Damascus steel blade would have been lost in history. It took Bill over three years and numerous attempts to rediscover how to complete this process. After he figured it out, he wrote in down and shared the process with fellow smiths. Incredible!
