Email from one of our Colorado volunteers after our monthly check-in:
“They’ve been exhausted by high needs and appointments since they started fostering K’s little siblings (four children, age six and under). I know I can’t make everything perfect, but it feels good to help give them the luxury of sitting down to dinner together, with one less thing to worry about.”
“They can just feel normal, and cared for, and connect with the kids for a while before bed.”
She doubles her family’s favorite recipes and drops off dinner (plus a freezer meal, just as an extra special touch) for this family once a month. It takes her about two hours, and she’s building a real, neighborly friendship with a family at HIGH risk for isolation & burnout.
This is all of it. Right here. Pretty simple.
If you want to be a Foster Neighbor, see the link in profile for our #COS training in just one week.
If you want to bring this program to your area, in partnership with your local agencies, DM or check the link in profile for that, too!
Denver Metro, we are pressing on with your county leaders this month. Stay tuned (and let us know if you want to help!).
