“It was the sweetest, most mysterious-looking place any one could imagine.” - Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden
We met again the other day for our book club, and this time, our book had been The Secret Garden. It’s been a busy, busy season, and so read a storybook version (and added the novel to our book list for later) and just loved the story!
We celebrated this lovely tale by going to a beautiful local garden with its own secret garden and other sweet surprises throughout! From kiwi, to loofas, to chocolate mint, peanuts, even Buddha’s hand - there was so much to touch, smell and see, it was glorious! We couldn’t have picked a better way to spend an afternoon!
I’m so grateful for other families who love literacy as we do - these play dates and celebrations have become such a wonderful way of bringing the written words to life in such meaningful and tangible ways!
