I finally reached my reading goal this year! Phew! 30 novels in 11 months, yay! At first I was aiming for 48 books (or 4 per month), but then life happened. I decided to lower it to a reachable goal of 30 and I’m so happy I did. I can honestly say I read slower, but better books this year compared to last year. Last year I had picked up reading again after 6 years of zero reading post grad studies, so I went a little nuts. I can honestly say I loved most books I read this year. My top favorites were:
1. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
2. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
3. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jack
4. Circe by Madeline Miller
5. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Finn by Gai Honeyman
6. The Woman in the Window by AJ Finn
All others were great too, except My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh. I absolutely hate this book so much and despised the living shit out of the main character; she was a total b-word. Despite the great writing from the author, I hated the heck out of this book and would like to give mine away. Anyone?
Did you read your reading goal yet, #bookstagram ? Which books did you love and which did you dislike?
