We went to see Mona Hatoum at White Cube Bermondsey today. Hatoum is one of my favourite artists. I first encountered her work ‘current disturbance’ when I worked at the Whitechapel Gallery a long time ago. Her work reflects on global condition such as conflict, architecture, communication, mobility, surveillance and she always uses really interesting materials. We also loved the other artists on show, Dora Maurer (her hand painted colour popping jagged canvases were particularly ace) and Harmony Hammond.
A great free exhibition. This exhibition ‘What remains to be seen’ is on until 3rd November.
