🇫🇷🇫🇷France is calling..J’arrive🏃♀️🏃♀️!🇫🇷🇫🇷
Last night: Galette Bretonne 🍽 with Domaine Nicolas Boiron Côtes Rhône 2012🍷🍷
You know by now I love talking about food and wine: every dish and bottle has their own stories..
Breton galettes are a traditional dish from Brittany, in the north-west of France: savoury crêpes made from buckwheat flour and usually served with ham, gruyere and an egg cooked in the center.
The buckwheat is native to Asia and arrived in France with the crusaders:🚣♀️🚣♂️🚣♀️ Brittany farmers were immediately enthusiastic, as this grain ripens quickly and takes root even in low-fertile soils.
The galettes became an element always present during Breton meals, also because it is super simple to prepare as you need only 3 ingredients: flour, water and salt. 🎯
In addition to this, Buckwheat is a “super food”: rich in proteins, antioxidants, amino acids and vitamin B, also it does not contain gluten.🤸♀️🤸♂️🤸♀️
We made our own version of Galette Bretonne: 🏆 fresh herbs from our garden, eggs, stir fried Tuscan kale, carrots with lemon juice dressing, baked funnel, grilled cauliflower and fresh ricotta. 🤤🤤🤤
To drink ? 🍷🇫🇷 This classic French dish needed a French wine to match. My pick for the night: Domaine Nicolas Boiron Côtes Rhoône 2012, 14%
This southern Rhone red blend is 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Cinsault.
Spice up your fruits! 🍇
Côtes Rhoône has always a beautiful dark deep ruby colour, aromas of fresh fruits on the nose, predominantly blueberry and stewed plum, ending in the palate with a touch of black pepper and slight spiciness.
Rich but fresh, enduring florality and good length.
Bon appetit! Feeling french again tonight 😋
