It all started with splitting an unknown piece of wood, it happend to be ash. One of my favorite species to work with, but not recognizing the bark ahum... This is now air dry, and ready to go, it fits just the axehandle I need to replace
It all started with a small log, didn't know the species. Here just before removing the bark.

Cartoons on the TV for Jaxon, Alex is in the basement cutting wood and this tufted project is coming along for me (I EVEN MADE THE BUTTONS MYSELF ) Couldn't be a better Tuesday. .
P.s. If we could do all the work in the world we would; unfortunately we can't . Please note that Refurnish is booked out through JULY for custom work. Be sure to plan according if you are looking to have a project done and book us in advance. We will NOT be able to take in or complete any new work before then. This doesn't apply to anyone who we previously/currently are in communication with. Thank you all for choosing Refurnish.
It’s that time of year again - yes Summer School is open for business for 2018 with a new venue and a new project. This year we’re running a fast and furious course over three days (18th-20th July) to build a boarded tool chest including tills at London Design & Engineering UTC ( @ldeutc ) Follow the link in the bio for full details including online booking or catch up with the latest blog #handtools#woodworkingclasses#furnituremaking#cabinetmakingcourses#toolchest
It’s so important to be able to change gears quickly when things go wrong. I was going to glue up this whole chest, all four joints at once, but things quickly started seizing up in the first joint. There’s so much surface area and glue in a joint like this, that when the wood starts to swell just a bit, a project could be ruined pretty fast. So I decided to do one joint, get it square, then I’ll do the rest of the glue up in stages. It’s often necessary to glue up sub assemblies first to make things more manageable, I’ll have to approach the rest of this project that way. .
Another show announcement!
This year's @rycotewood_furniture graduates from the BA honours in furniture design and making course will be exhibiting their work at @heals_furniture for two days in July. 'Branching Out' is a show that marks our degree students taking their next steps. Whether they go on to work with wood, produce limited editions or batch produced goods, this is an exciting opportunity to celebrate their hard work and dedication over the past three years.
Please feel free to join our celebration by visiting our exhibtion and spreading the word. The students will be happy to share their work with you.
