There’s a universal nonverbal body language communicator when you experience pride. You see it when athletes cross finish lines. You see it when you’re standing in front of a masterpiece. You see it when you feel on top of the world.
You see a persons head drop back, as if they were looking to the sky when really his eyes are closed. You see their arms spread as far out to their sides, palms facing up toward the clouds. You see tears, at times; smiles more often. .
When you’ve reached a milestone, allow yourself to fully experience it. Breathe it in. Express it. Shout it. Be grateful for. Thank the universe. .
But also remember. Remember that there were so many things leading up to this moment that you likely learned more in the journey than you did in this single experience. You learned who your support system was. You learned how fantastic the people in your life are. You learned that you can do WAY harder things than you could have ever imagined. .
You learned about exhaustion. You learned about doubt—-about feeling like an imposter. You learned about the implications of not taking care of yourself. You learned about love. You learned about self-love. And THOSE things are worth that head back, eyes closed, hands out, feed planted, palms up, tears streaming, smile breathing, kind of pride. .
Be as thankful for the journey as you are your destination.
