Unfortunately couldn’t hook as my hands not right nothing bad just didn’t look after my hands. Felt good positioning wise though.
Tempos were so hard my quads and glutes have so much DOMS right now! Persevered but almost died.
Spoto was solid for the triples. My arch is feeling DISGUSTING right now!
Back offs were sloppy and lazy as I had to rush. ———————————————————-

Paused Deadlifts 130Kg x3 @8, 4x3 120Kg.
First time deadlifting in "slippers" which are just a pair of gymnastics shoes. Got me noticeably closer to the ground but they run a bit small. Not sure how they'll perform on sumos but liking how they feel for Conventionals. Might have placebo-ed me to perform better on Deadlifts today.

Squats 5x5 75Kg. Everyday I squat without pain is a win. Need to not get ahead of myself. Depth is there and just greasing the groove. My quads have definitely shrunk unfortunately 😭

@hollyharriethume finally get back Into some squats and deadlifts. Starting with me with a minor injury meant we had to cut out all lower body exercise for a while.

It’s not possible on every exercise but where you can I think you should use ROM markers. Here for example I move the bar from the floor (marker 1) until the plates touch my chest (marker 2). That way you have a clear definition of what each rep is. If you don’t touch both markers then that rep was shorter than the rest & probably shouldn’t count. The only Bench attempt that mattered to me ✌🏻 I went to into the competition with the sole goal of benching 140, to get that sweet 3 plate bench on an international stage, and nailed it on the 3rd attempt 👌🏻 beauty and a 7.5kg PR.
Was 6/6 with a 355 subtotal at this point and feeling awesome 🤙🏻

Working with nick to polish up his Deadlift form. Nick has issues fully locking out his arms making deadlifts abit difficult.

That being said this is a good start. We will see how this progresses over time.

Pause squats were hard and messy today largely due to lower back still being fried from conventionals #sumoislyf. Was difficult to maintain positioning as lower back fatigued quickly during the set so despite keeping my top set moderate weight still managed to overshoot. BALANCE IN THE SQUAT

ℹ️ The video does most of the explaining, but essentially when squatting we want to keep the bar over the mid-foot as that is the most stable point and creates an optimal bar path throughout the movement.
_
- Sticking the knees forward too early will tilt you over in the hole and cause a loss of balance
- The same goes for sitting the hips too far back, creating a good-morning squat with loss of balance and tension when pushing out of the bottom position
- You also want to make sure you keep equal, stable foot tension and don’t “push” the knees out to the side. This will cause the same issue.
_
I like to think about a simultaneous break at the hips and knees, whilst also “opening” the hips from the top. This allows you to sit into a well-balanced and stable squat however your leverages may dictate.
_
Some may need to sit further back, forward or allow more knee travel etc but overall it is a good starting point for staying balanced in the squat!

Bench just ticking over in the background ... top set of 6 at 112.5 @7-8...Nothing special here, Concentrating on adding some general #thiccness to the upper body atm so frequency isn't a priority and i can feel my arms + back + chest are battered from the volume of other general bodybuilding movements.

For now I am trying to keep bench and other barbell compounds conservative and slightly under suggested RPE to avoid building unnecessary fatigue and allowing me to attack the large variety of other exercises adequately. 🇬🇧 Deadlifts from Worlds 🇬🇧 .

This was by far the most heartbreaking and frustrating moment of my powerlifting career so far 😪 .

Could not have been closer to the win here, 270kg (595lb) on the bar; pulling for Gold 🥇. .

Unfortunately despite the best hype men in the game (@sartorius_b_i_g_ and @danclarke47), my grip started slipping straight away and I just couldn't hold onto it. . 🥈 Thankfully my opener and second attempts had moved nicely, and my 255kg second left me with Silver in the deadlift, as well as Silver overall. .

Definitely some learning points to take away from this - mainly: learn how to hold on to things. .

Operation hookgrip is already underway, and I'm definitely gonna try as hard as I possibly can to never drop a deadlift again 😪 .

For sure going to have flashbacks of this lift for the foreseeable future 🙃

Deadlift day saw conventional deads for sets of ✋🏼 at 187.5kg ... trying to rest my hips which are seemingly having a mini revolt. Maybe don’t always meet head on ... change the conversation.

The funky sock game was strong yesterday with me and @samstafford_2 😂. I got a new PB on the front squat yesterday, my last PB was 105KG which yesterday I got for 2 reps, but now I got a PB of 110KG, with more left in the tank. Being on the British Junior Championships later this year

3 Really common Fat Loss Mistakes…. -
1. You're Drinking your Calories… -
You don't need me to tell you that Coke is a poor choice, in fact, a can is roughly 300 calories, choose diet drinks (forget the bullshit you read about aspartame, its fine), a can of diet coke is 2 calories… -
You do the maths…. -
2. You're eating back your exercise calories… -
You go to the gym, you burn 800 calories, so you think you'll have that pizza, except, that 800 calories you burned. More like 200! Fitness bands are great, but they are fairly inaccurate, and people also tend to overestimate how hard they work in the gym or how many calories they are actually burning… So, 200 out, and a pizza load in… -
3. You're not eating enough Protein… -
Protein is the most filling of the macronutrients, if your dieting you're gonna be hungry, eat more protein and manage your hunger better, fewer cravings, fewer binges, more fat loss, oh and it has the added bonus of helping you recover better, maintain muscle mass, and generally perform better.. -
When it comes to fat loss, calories are king, you won't lose fat without being in a calorie deficit, its simple, maths, and thermodynamics… -

Thoughts:

Putting that game time face on. Had a rough weekend to say the least, but came back swinging for the wall. I am reaching into untapped energy to clock in this back half of the training cycle. Tried a different way of warming up. My first reps use to always be inconsistent and sloppy and then the trail reps would be solid. Now that I’m basically warming up my “technique”, I corrected my 1st rep, got loose on my 2nd 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️, still had some speed on it though, and began correcting it on my 3rd. Walked away with a rep PR. Felt like I had 5 in me. Very confident. Finished all my accessory work and almost passed out with my 190lb dips lol. Tip of the day: BREATH during your dips. You’re welcome. Geared up for a heavy squat and even heavier next week! Tick tock.

Finally gave in and bought some of the SBD limited edition range 🇧🇷🐝. Been meaning to buy some medium SBDs for about a year. Been using large which is still very snug but getting the mediums on was a fight that involved a lot of talcum powder, grip strength (new accessory movement lol) and sweat afterwards when they were finally on. First-week-back DOMS setting in nicely 😳. Double paused squats were surprisingly fun though. Double paused deads were unsurprisingly not.

Last week competed with #cuplc in the University World Championships in #czechrepublic. On the biggest stage I've been on so far, I had an overwhelmingly underwhelming performance. I weighed in at 65.64kg and went 5/9 with 185/127.5/210kg to give a 522.5kg total and 412.1 Wilks, a regression from my previous meet. It seemed like a shambles at the time, and it was 😂😂. But it's just another chapter in the book and there are many more to be written. Next meet is in the headlights and @hani_tsa and I will now work to fix things for it 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽 _

Today's session deadlift day. Best day of the week 190kg 4x4. New 4 rep PR with lots left. 7.5kg PR on top of last week's 2.5kg PR, then some bench trying another PR old 8 rep max loads left in the tank probably another 4 reps.

First time doing paused squats in a very long time and they felt pretty good 💪🏻 Safe to say everything is therefore a PB 😂
90kg for 2 sets of 4
97.5kg for 2 sets of triples
102.5kg for a top double
