Snatch Time on Saturday:
I'm still having a real struggle with the Snatch technique, but:
Did the 25 kg Snatch I missed last week!!! 💪🏻
Then failed three times with 26,5 kg (and today I saw a 9 y/o girl hit the 26-27 kg Snatches so easy and smooth.... 🙈 I feel so weak 😅... and she weighs only 31 kg 😝). Afterwards some strength training.

We all love a good BBQ in the summer. Smelling those burgers and hotdogs on the grill 🤤🤤 however when you are dieting (cutting or bulking) or trying to be conscious of what you are eating , it’s very easy to over indulge on bbq foods. Typically the average person making burgers on the grill is using 80/20 or 85/15 beef. Now don’t get me wrong the extra fat makes those burgers absolutely delicious but it’s an easy way to blow your macros for the day. If you eat two typical burgers at a bbq you are consuming nearly 50g of fat and creating an imbalance in your daily nutrients 😧. I know it’s hard to control what others buy for a party/bbq but when you can control it at home go for the leaner option 💪🏼

What to eat when and why.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can make any food fit in your plan if you are consistent and you follow a few simple guidelines. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Avoid processed or really fast absorbing carbs as your first meal of the day. Truthfully you should try and avoid this crap almost all the time. But it is especially important when you are eating your first meal of the day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. If you want to have something sweet, have it as dessert after you ate a really nutrient dense high fiber meal. This slows down the absorption of the sugars so you don't get the massive blood sugar spike. Also, don't drink your sweets, eat them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. If you decide you want to go crush a pizza, have a burger and fries, or a few drinks plan it in advance. This way you can make sure your nutrition leading up to the meal is on point. Also, make sure you trained earlier in the day. Then enjoy your meal and get right back on track. No guilt.

4. Know that even though I say you can enjoy any food you want and still be healthy that DOES NOT MEAN EVERY DAY or even every week. If you want to be successful you must make sacrifices and learn to control cravings. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5. Make sure your first meal of the day is a balanced nutrient dense, high fiber meal. With lots of healthy fat and green vegetables. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are so many delicious foods in the world that may not be the most "healthy". These foods aren't "bad" they are just not very nutrient dense and they contain ingredients that cause inflammation when they are overconsumed. So consumption should be VERY limited. How limited is dependant on YOU and your body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Everybody is different. There is so much more to nutrition than just calories in and calories out or eating restrictive diets and only healthy foods all the time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Find a healthy balance. Figure out what works for you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⚜️ “The 10 Week Physique ⚜️

First of all, apologies for skipping a week. Basically the past two weeks of prep have been a massive mental strain on me; I got really sick, I haven’t hit a low weigh in for almost two weeks, and I just wasn’t happy with how my body looked from MY perspective. These two photos are both 10 weeks out from my competition last year versus this year. At the 10 week mark this year, I am a whole 2kg heavier and sitting at 6.8% body fat. Contest prepping is bloody hard. Not just from the food front, but mostly mentally. I’ve been stressing, and judging my body so harshly these last couple weeks, and it took getting an outside perspective on how I’m doing to really bring me back down to earth. A massive, massive thank you to Liam from @mmfitness_australia for taking the time today to evaluate how I am going, doing a very precise pinch test for my body fat, and generally just fixing my stupid poor opinion of how my body is right now.
Here’s how I’m going:
I’m 11 weeks out. I’m 2kgs heavier than last year. My body fat is already under 7%. Those are numbers to be proud of, and it’s got me feeling positive again about the remainder of this prep 💪🏽 -----------------------------------------------

Just a phenomenal Saturday today with my wife. Got body fat tested, had a donut from @grebes_bakery, partner WOD at @creamcitycrossfit, breakfast at @colectivocoffee, nap with @louisandmilosz on the floor of the living room, zucchini bread made with fresh zucchini from our garden, ~30 mile bike ride, beer garden, dinner, froyo...didn’t pull out my phone as much as normal which shows me I was in the moment and enjoying spending time with my wife.

With all that said, wanted to repost this post to remind you all out there...if you’re dealing with pain or issues in the gym, find a quality practitioner who will help you stay active and working toward your goals, not simply hinder you.
Find one who understands your movement practice and how important it is to you.
Find one who can relate to your goals and training methods.

As physical therapists we should be movement optimists. We should be focused on how we can keep people as active as possible, and how to continue being engaged in activities that give them meaning

We have the skills to be able to assess and appropriately modify activity to allow people to continue to participate in what they love
.
Far too often we have seen people just shut down clients activities at the first sign of discomfort or pain and you can literally see the hope be sucked out of the person
.
Are there times where you have to eliminate something? Yes, of course there is. But, the goal should always be to find away to modify activity first. If that is truly not possible, shutting it down for a period of time may be necessary
