🚨The Mandalorian Season 2 is Now Filming, Carl Weathers Also Directing🚨 -
During a press event for The Mandalorian that Screen Rant attended, Favreau and Filoni were joined by cast members Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Gina Carano (Cara Dune), and Carl Weathers (Greef Carga) for a Q&A panel. The creators and cast discussed a variety of topics, including the status of season 2. Favreau confirmed that filming has already begun on the second season with a mysterious director working on the series the night before. While the identity of that director was not revealed, it was confirmed that Weathers will direct an episode this season. Weathers most recently directed an episode of Hawaii Five-0. With production already rolling on season 2 of The Mandalorian, Disney and Lucasfilm clearly have a lot of confidence that the first season is going to be a hit. Favreau has already said he wants to direct an episode in season 2, and Filoni is likely to direct another as well. But, Weathers will now be the second known cast member to also direct an episode, as Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) directed a season one episode and also voices IG-11. It is unconfirmed that Weathers will reprise his role as Carga in season 2, but as he took on a larger part in season one than originally envisioned, it is expected that his character will return. Now that it has been confirmed that The Mandalorian is back in production on another season, it will be fascinating to see when we learn about more new developments. Lucasfilm and Disney undoubtedly want to keep the focus on season one for the time being, but new cast members and the director lineup for season 2 will be sought after information. But, some of this could be sensitive information based on how the first season wraps up. With the season finale airing at the end of the year, it may not be until 2020 that more details on season 2 emerge.
