If you’re anything like how I used to be, you think mediation is a bunch of crock. 🙄 My cousins and I tried to “meditate” out to camp one summer when we were younger and I, oh so maturely, continued to make farting noises to make us laugh. It was my way of getting out of an uncomfortable situation. Because I was just that — uncomfortable. I didn’t know the first thing about meditation, let alone understand HOW to mediate, so I treated it like a big joke.
It wasn’t until I started working out consistently that I came to realize the importance of slowing down and simply noticing my breath. Seems silly though, right...?...that something like heart pumping, sweat dripping, hard-core cardio and strength training workouts are what led me to this calming practice?! But it did, and I am so grateful.
Now, I take it seriously, because I know the importance of it and why people do it. Most of the Super Trainers I work with stress it’s value, and they really know their stuff!
Are you an avid meditator or do you have the mindset I once did? If you’re stuck in that place of ignorance like I was, I encourage you to at least try it if you haven’t yet. There are so many simple apps and quick videos to help guide you through it until it becomes more natural. It may not become your favorite hobby, but it certainly won’t hurt you to just try.
