You can never be too rich or too thin? Nope. Disagree on both fronts. Buuut it IS true you can never have too many little glass bowls.
I was reminded of this handy #fitlifetool again as I made protein pancakes this morning. I was out of coconut butter, which is my go-to pancake topping because it adds just a touch of sweetness but keeps me steady. Typically I do about a tablespoon of coconut butter mixed with a few drops of stevia and almond extract. ~
My mind turned to maple syrup, but I really wanted just a taste. If I get a huge load of sugar in the morning, I crumble into a shaky heap not long after.
So I put a tablespoon of maple syrup in a little glass bowl and dipped just the corner of each bite into it.
A “serving” of maple syrup is 1/4 cup, which is over 200 calories and 50 grams of sugar. In contrast, I had just about two teaspoons, which is about 8 grams of sugar.
Now, 8 grams is still a decent amount of sugar. I probably could have done one teaspoon, which would be about 4 grams and more modest. But I was a little groggy this morning, so next time. ~
Anyway, you may be in a different place with respect to sugar, but the point is this: glass bowls are a nice tool for portion control, in whatever form you like it. They’re also pretty and surprisingly inexpensive.
Also, all-or-nothing thinking is no fun. Little glass bows are a welcome train to moderation land. #fitlifetools #moderation #glassbowls #syrup #startnow
