1. What is the best advice you would give someone new to gardening?
A: When you want to start a garden, just start. Read as much about gardening as you can and start. Try everything and make your own experiences. Note everything you did in your garden, it will help you in the next season to make it even better. And if one crop fails, think about what to plant instead. You can always plant or sow something. Don't use your beds for just one crop, think about what you can plant there before or afterwards.
2. What books/youtube channels/other materials have been most influential to your gardening journey?
A: At the first time, when I started gardening, I've read a lot of German gardenbooks about organicgardening. Then I became more and more interested in wintergardening and I read Eliot Coleman, an absolut must read for wintergardening. Plus I like to watch Skillnadens YouTube videos and read her blog.
3. What is some important gardening wisdom you've acquired that isn't commonly talked about?
A: Don't always believe what the seed packages say. Make your own experiences, for example last year I sowed some zucchinis in the middle of July, because the voles ate some zucchini plants. It was very late for sowing them, the seed package says April-May, and I got wonderful autumn zucchinis from September-October.
4. What are your favourite gardener instagram accounts for learning/ideas/Inspiration?
A: My favourite instagram gardener is @skillnadens. She's brilliant and I've really learned a lot from her. It's in Swedish but she although has an English Youtube channel 'Saras kitchen garden' with English subtiles.
