Why weekend eating can ruin your progress... If you know me, you know I thoroughly enjoy food. I like donuts 🍩 and weekend brunches with pancakes 🥞. I like going to coffee shops ☕️ and grabbing a muffin. Or a date night with pasta 🍝and some wine🍷. I am definitely a flexible eater. But how can you enjoy your fav foods and not go overboard to the point of offsetting your work for the week?
Ya know, the weekend comes and now it’s a free for all. Screw the diet and workouts, it’s time to relaxxxx until Monday and you have to “start over”. Then the cycle continues and you NEVER make progress
Aim for “good enough”
a big mistake I see is if the meal can’t be absolutely perfect, you choose to instead be completely crap. Because you’re going to a pasta place, you say “there’s nothing healthy here!” So you have a whole basket of bread, Alfredo pasta, 3 glasses of wine, and of course chocolate cake. Whoops.
Instead, think how can I make the best of this situation? If you’re really craving pasta, get that. Then opt for water and maybe one piece of bread. You don’t have to eat everything just because it’s available.
Stop trying to diet with rules “No alcohol” “No carbs” “No treats”
And then the weekend comes and you’re out with friends and you break all your rules.
Instead of setting ridiculous non realistic boundaries, just listen to your body. Do you actually want to drink tonight, or are you just doing it because your friends are?
Listen to your hunger and fullness.
Make adult choices
At the end of the day, you choose what you put in your body. So be aware of the outcomes.
If you decide to eat pizza and beer, know that you’ll probably feel lethargic tomorrow and you probably won’t work out. If you’re fine with that decision, ok. If not, choose something different.
It’s always a new day to start. Don’t wait for Monday. Each day is a clean slate to do better. 🙂
