“In 2014, after my divorce, I decided to travel. I visited South East Asia and while I wasn’t very keen on visiting Vietnam, now that I look back, it was the best decision I’ve made! Over there, I became friends with another traveller who invited me to his house for a party. That’s when I saw Joy for the first time. She looked so happy and beautiful... I just had to talk to her.
After a bit of small talk, I found out that she was a single mother, who was also a divorcee. I got really intrigued to know how she pulled it off with two sons! She seemed so effortlessly graceful about it -- she was like a superhero! We liked each other since that night itself and instantly became friends. I was supposed to leave for India in the next few days but I happened to fall sick. So I extended my visa and decided to spend the last few days with her. It was…amazing. I got along with her boys so well and I didn’t even know… but I fell in love with her. I didn’t want to go back.
After I reached India, I couldn’t get her out of my mind. From being as organised as she was, to being a hard worker and the fact that she was taking care of two naughty boys so well -- made me feel for her more. So I booked my tickets and went back to tell her how I felt! When she told me that she felt the same way… it was the happiest moment of my life. I met her family and we all got along. All I wanted, was to spend the rest of my life with her. So, on my birthday, after we were getting back home from dinner, I got down on one knee and proposed -- and she said yes!
We’ve now moved to Goa. It’s the perfect location for us. We’re both travellers by heart and miss it so much that we’ve opened our own place up to host other travellers! We’ve even had a beautiful daughter together!
Love found us for the second time and there’s no one else that I want to wake up to -- with the laughter of three naughty kids as well!
The only thing I’m finding hard is getting used to Vietnamese food, it’s so bland! But I guess I can spend the rest of my life adjusting to the taste of it as long as she’s there by my side, complaining about how spicy Indian food is!”
