Despite the fact that giraffes have characteristic long necks, they actually have only seven neck vertebrae just like us humans. Difference is that each individual vertebra is super-sized, up to ten inches long!
Have you ever thought what kind of noise does giraffes make? Me too.
We know they snort every now and then, but other than that, they seem quiet creatures. Or maybe they just have good table manners? Because most of the time, giraffes eat and you're not supposed to talk with your mouth full of food. No one knew until recently. A group of researchers found out that giraffes also make very low humming sounds which are out of humans hearing range. Cool huh?
The more you know.
