#52DaysOfBeauty Day 34
This #painting is by my #grandmother and is on wood prepared by my #grandfather. It has hung in my office for almost two decades.
They've both passed, years ago.
They had a complicated relationship, to say the least. In fact, in hindsight it seems many might consider him to be a monster. He definitely put his children at a disadvantage growing up.
However, I credit him (them) for being who I am, and where I am today. I think of them often. My fondest childhood memories involve them. They not only loved and encouraged me, but literally supported my jumping off to become an artist. I know of the darkness now. I did not know then. But my love of art and life and my resolve comes from their words (if not always their actions). This painting reminds me of who I can become...good and bad.
I miss you both terribly.
