Another awesome class with Mauricio Valle. We worked on shoulder openers at the wall, lowering down in a straddle, pike press drills, and a new leg position: stag. I’ve been extremely exhausted at night the past couple of weeks (I think because of the allergy medicine I’m taking), but I still manage to pull my energy together and practice.
For stag position, Mauricio has tried to align me and teach me at the wall how to do it in perfect 90-degree angles, and not lazy wherever-my-legs-go position. It’s hard to feel the alignment yet, but the wall drill has helped a lot. I will keep practicing it to get it perfect and find balance.
We also worked on controlled lowering down. Again, just need to keep practicing daily so my body remembers it. The drill is to find a handstand at the wall and begin opening the legs wide without the butt or the head touching the wall, and once the legs can’t open anymore, have the butt find the wall and begin lowering down. I have very little free wall space at home, so I’ll need to figure something out because it’s a crucial drill for me.
So amazing how Mauricio has a perfect drill and cues that make sense for my body for anything I want to work on.
