Swipe left for then vs now... Today is a very special day in the year.
It marks exactly 21 years since we arrived in Australia.
I love this photo because a lot of people say they were poor but this shows really how humble our beginnings were. We lived in a very low socioeconomic area and this was our first car, I think it was worth 600 dollars. We were renting and my little brother had just been born. Mum was trying to get her certification and dad was working 2 jobs and studying his masters.
Today, we have a beautiful home, dad has a business, mum is a senior radiographer at a major hospital, she also drives a beautiful car, one of her son's is studying radiography and her other son (me) has a world class career and has bought an investment property all on his own at 26.
From time to time I think of how far we have come in this land of opportunity. That if only you work hard and make the right choices, you can actually amount to something in Australia.
This period was so important as I have felt what its like to progress through almost every class in society, and to treat everybody with respect, and not a day goes by where I don't count my lucky stars, for my loving family, friends and this wonderful country that has given us so much. Onwards and upwards!
