🙈 Are you more welcoming + friendly than the average person to that new student or coworker? 🙊 Do you visibly work harder at pleasing your boss / parents / teachers? 🙉 Do you often help people out no matter what time of day or night? 🙊 Do you work harder than others to maintain/repair relationships with difficult people?
If you answered YES to some of these questions, you may become the target of a #MalignantNarcissist ... Yeah, you read that right. 😱😰😱 Trust me, I was just as shocked as you when I read that last week and it made me think. Does being a kind person and a good friend make you a sucker? Answer is: It depends.
People with #Narcissistic traits often look at your best qualities and see someone that can be exploited for their own benefit. While at first they may seem normal, little by little they will undercut your sense of self worth. When something great happens in your life, these negative vultures are "wet blankets" that make you doubt your own abilities. Narcissists slowly suck the #confidence + #joy out of your life until you're left insecure, uninspired and depressed.
So what can you do to protect yourself from these #bloodsuckers and #energyvampires .
#1 SET BOUNDARIES on the time and effort you spend on things that don't directly benefit you. Accept that each person is living their own journey. Its not your responsibility or right to alter their life lessons.
#2 DON'T OFFER yourself up as a victim. Unless specifically asked, don't extend yourself. ((Is this making you uncomfortable... Yeah, me too 😂😂)) Instead of kind, it's seen as WEAK.
#3 REALIZE THAT WHAT YOU DONT WORK HARD FOR IS NOT VALUED. That $100 dress is treated MUCH differently than the free t-shirt ... One usually ends up on the floor or cut up into rags. (HINT: Get a hanger!) Don't give the best of yourself away.
YOU ARE VALUABLE!! Act like it 💪
