Copilot Lucy at your service 🐾🐾 I have noticed that a majority of service dog related issues with Lyft and Uber come from drivers not complying with the ADA, which is now being more thoroughly investigated by ride sharing services. Since I am a driver, it is my responsibility to ensure those laws are being upheld in my vehicle. I’m happy to say we have not run into anyone unpleasant, but unfortunately have had to cancel a few rides since I can only accompany 3 passengers. (Lucy takes the front seat.) My passengers have been very eager to learn about service dogs, which is great. Although I allow passengers to give her head pats, I was happily surprised that many would respond with “thank you, i just didn’t want to distract her.” Since we meet at least 10 people on a busy day, I’m hoping I can slowly get more accurate information out to the public. I will say that i wish I had started doing this sooner, as i can take time off as needed for disability related issues and doctor appts without affecting my productivity or worrying about affecting a coworker’s workload or holding up something important.
