👣Mid-back or thoracic spine pain is commonly reported in the rehab arena and can be associated with a number of factors including stress, repetitive work and sustained postures.
-
🔎Like many other types of physical pain, a combination of mobilization, stretching and resistance training can be very helpful for combating this problem. Here are a series of exercises to try if you suffer from pain in this region.
.
1️⃣Thoracic Mobilization: Use the foam roller to mobilize the joints and soft tissues of the thoracic spine. Spend a few minutes working up and down the entire length of the mid-back.
.
2️⃣Thoracic Rotation Stretch: Bring the hips into flexion in order to limit lumbar movement. From here, follow one arm and rotate as far as possible. Hold for 5-10 seconds and repeat 2-3 times. Then, perform on the other side.
.
3️⃣Bent-Over T: Bend at the hips with the low back straight and lift the arms out to your sides as shown. This will help activate the muscles between the shoulder blades and reduce pain. Shoot for 2-3 sets of 10-15 repetitions.
