I channeled my inner HS weightlifting girl today, so I thought I would do a more traditional weightlifting session today.
Iโ€™m sure I could of pushed myself to do more weight but I didnโ€™t wanna to lose the integrity of my form just to push more weight.

These have been a staple in my workouts but like any exercise, they started to get easy! By adding a dumbbell behind your head it makes the exercise 10x harder! Even a 10lb dumbbell makes a big difference
.
To do these, or any sit-up on an exercise ball, make sure you go all the way down!! I like to fully relax, and then contract my core at the bottom of every rep! .

Yesterday was a pretty okay Leg Day. I was way too sore to really see progress on my deadlifts. Focused on high reps of conventional DLs to work on form and breathing. BAD IDEA to deadlift for 4 days in a row.

Leg day was ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ today! Energy was back up and everything about it just felt great today! 5 rounds 12 to 15 reps of each! I didnโ€™t film my whole workout! My whole lift lasted 60 minutes and finished with 30 minutes of treadmill intervals! 3.5mph for 1 minute 8-9mph for 1 minute! This is a good example of how beneficial recording your workouts can be.
Here is my top set of overhead presses from the other days training.
If you notice, when I initiate leg drive, my knees are buckling inward.
What this tells me is that I need make sure I am forcing my knees out when initiating the movement.
This internal rotation is often attributed to weak/inactive glutes, which is something I have been correcting.
Without the video though, I would never had known this was happening. .

Today was first but not in a good way. Today after 15 months of training with @ml_fitmode I've not been able to complete a full hour of training. I'm not looking to give excuses as I don't do them. The last few days have been difficult: Monday I got only 4.5 hrs sleep & last just 3 hrs. Sat and Sun on avg I did 25k steps. Fri & Mon 20k steps. Then 2 days back to back of PT and doing 5 hrs of training in 2 days. On top of that dealing with depression can really affect your mindset. Finally, I maxed and beyond my max heart rate more than twice in my session. I apologise @ml_fitmode.

๐Ÿ”จA chiseled six pack takes strategic core work, minimal body fat, & great nutrition. Couple this routine with healthy eating & ongoing exercise, & youโ€™ll be on the right track.

๐Ÿ‘€P.S. U gotta hit multiple movement patterns & planes of motion to build a killer core!

โญ๏ธComplete each exercise in a row for 30 seconds each. Repeat circuit TWICE!

๐ŸšฒBicycle Kicks:
Too many people are doing these wrong: Think opposite knee to opposite elbow. Instead of focusing on speed, focus on form. As u drive ur elbow to ur knee, keep ur elbow in line with ur ear, so u donโ€™t cheat by reaching. Also, fully extend ur opposite leg on every โ€œturnโ€ for an extra burn.

๐Ÿ‘‰Side Planks:
Planks are a foundational movement u should already be doing, & side planks are an upgrade to blast ur obliques. If u really want to get crazy with it, do them with ur elbow on a bosu ball for extra stability work.

๐Ÿ”ฅHanging Leg Raises:
Double tap if ur already doing these badboys. Hang from a pull up bar & raise ur feet until theyโ€™re in line with ur belly button. Ensure ur legs stay extended the whole time & donโ€™t do any swaying. These are advanced, but necessary to get those stubborn lower abs.

๐Ÿ”‘Cable Crunches:
We want the spine to get to at least neutral at the top & to full flexion at the bottom of this movement. That said, the entire movement should be steady & controlled, so youโ€™ll want to start with light weights as u master the form. Pro-tip: Think elbows to lap as u crunch!

๐Ÿ”ตExercise Ball Crunches:
Boost ab activation by crunching on an exercise ball. The extra element of balance on the ball will work smaller, sometimes overlooked, muscles & give u a larger range of motion. Simple & effective, just the way I like it.

๐Ÿ’ฅBONUS: Finish the workout with a 2-minute plank. I guarantee after this 5-minute routine, the 2-minute plank will feel like HOURS.

Whatโ€™s better | A bigger chest

What stacks up better for growing a chest?

Of course these are both great exercises but they both also have benefits that the other doesnโ€™t.
-
Bench Press
-
The bench press is that exercise that people want to excel on in the gym or beat other people on however does that mean itโ€™s great for building a big chest?
-
You can overload the chest more with higher loads and it is a good measure of upper body strength but this can come at the cost of poor chest activation.
-
You canโ€™t argue its ability to create lots of mechanical tension which is a key driver for muscle hypertrophy and it can be performed through a variety of rep ranges and form can stay pretty tight.
-
The DB Press
-
You wonโ€™t be able to move as much load on this exercise but the benefits are that you can get a great range of motion as the elbows can drop below the chest and stretch the chest further.
-
It also has benefits in that you can change elbow position to be easier on the shoulders and you wonโ€™t be able to rely on a stronger side as its a unilateral movement.
-
You can also go to complete failure and just drop the dumbbells if needed rather than being crushed on bench press if you canโ€™t get the bar back up (not ideal๐Ÿ˜‚).

So whatโ€™s best?

Well I would advocate you put both in your plan but if I had to choose one for muscle growth it would be the dumbbell press.
