Day 16: REST
It’s all about balance, you know?
It’s what everyone tells you when dieting but it couldn’t be more true. Restricting yourself to healthy foods 100% of the time on a diet in my opinion never works. Ever. You’ll eventually get sick of eating that way and go back to your old ways in no time. An alternative? Balance it out. Eat a healthy meal 80% of the week. Indulge in that beer on a Friday night. Treat ya self to that cookie on a Saturday afternoon. But the most important thing? Don’t beat yourself up when you cheat. Enjoy enjoy enjoy and don’t think twice. THERE IS ALWAYS THE NEXT MEAL AND WORKOUT (in my case, swipe left) where you can feel #clean and #healthy again! And you’ll feel as good as new, promise 🤗
Yesterday, I went out some new team members at work and we went to an Italian restaurant that was, per the first image, delish. Homemade pasta and Italian specialties. #whatdreamsaremadeof . Was it the healthiest choice? No. But did I enjoy myself and not beat myself over it afterwords? YES.
I have to say, I’ve always been pretty good at not getting mad at myself when I make a bad food choice while I’m having fun because, at some point, you just have to enjoy life and forget about how many *ounces* (if that) you’ll gain from eating it. For me since I’m not too picky, I enjoy good, quality food of all sorts. Including creamy homemade pasta, burrata, prosciutto and melon, and wine that I ate at 1PM on a Wednesday afternoon. Of course sometimes I regret my choices when my belly starts hurting BUT I have to remind myself how I felt in that time that I was inulging - happy as a damn clam 🍽 baby steps baby steps baby steps! A #healthyish life is better than an #unhealthy life amirite? And eventually in time, living that #healthyish life will start turning into your curated, personal #healthy life, that you’ll be able to sustain for longer than you would if you went “cold turkey” from the beginning. PROMISE✨
