For the past decade South-African born, London-based artist Kimberley Gundle’s practice has been captivated by the Maasai people - the seminomadic pastoralists of East Africa. Gundle has resided in many of these remote settlements, making drawings and taking photographs of the Maasai communities in both Kenya and Tanzania. Known for her bold and vibrant use of colour, Gundle expresses her creativity in many forms including painting, collage, mixed-media drawing and sculpture, ranging from small house-hold objects to large-scale outdoor works as well as limited edition clothing accessories and home decor.
@kimberleygundle’s 100% hand rolled silk chiffon cameo scarf is designed and printed with the artist’s portrait drawings of the Maasai, pictured here at the summit of the Loita Hills in Kenya.
