The view we have of hypnobirthing as a culture really gets to me😡🤬 The belief that people who practice hypnobirthing are difficult, will come with a hefty birth plan they will not budge on, will have a waterbirth at home, not mention pain, be as silent as a mouse and not work in partnership with their caregivers.
Where did that all come from? Why is this perception so prevalent?
Hypnobirthing can be so valuable in supporting ALL women to become confident, calm, in control and informed about ALL types of birth and how to navigate the maternity system.
Believe it or not, women who practice hypnobirthing want to work with their midwife, they want to be educated and to feel supported. They don't want to HAVE to justify their actions, they want to be trusted to make their own decisions and they understand the professional responsibility that healthcare professionals have.
They are not under the illusion that everything will be 'perfect', what even is perfect... they just want to be heard. They just want their caregiver to trust that they can do it, whatever IT is.
Hypnobirthing is for everyone. Whether it is your first or fifth baby, caesarean or homebirth, you can have a positive experience. I have an Introduction into Hypnobirthing session on Saturday 13th July, at 10am in Bexhill if you want to learn more. I'd love to support you 😍💖🤰
