Even though I'm not working on anything currently because of grad school stuff still settling down, I'm still going to do @redthreaded 's #fallforcostume challenge because why not. Day one is #intro so, hi, I'm Maddie! I've loved making costumes and telling stories since I was a kid, and I've been sewing for foueteen-ish years, but only been cosplaying the past three. I've done mostly comic book characters and different adaptations of them, a few tv shows, and one goblin king!
About a year ago, when I was up to my elbows in foam for my Hippolyta build, I got frustrated that this hobby I loved and was getting better at was taking up all my time while my personal life and career were going nowhere, so I took the rest of last fall off from large projects to start my applications. In that time, I finished the first season of Westworld and decided to make Dolores, but I had to get my applications in before I could start work, so she was my immediate incentive to finish applying. I started work on her as soon as they were submitted, and since then she's taken two mock-ups of the jacket, three different versions of the trim, two wigs, and finally making her belt pouch myself, all while getting stuff together to be able to come over here to start school again this fall. Doing this cosplay was one of the most involved, intricate projects I've made so far, and I've grown along with her as an artist in what I know I can do after this, when I eventually have the time and stuff again! #cosplay #challenge #westworldwednesday #becauseitswedneadaynow #dolorescosplay #doloresabernathycosplay #doloresabernathy #victorian #sewing #western #westworld #hbowestworld #myface #blonde #fabricdye #handmade #doesntlooklikeanythingtome #themazewasntmeantforyou
