when I am alone.
~
I worry about the most trivial things. And then the biggest things. And then I have to quash it all because it’s all BS.
~
I wrote about this in a blog I this week (Cindra banks.com/blog) but I wanted to dive into it further. It’s annoying.
~
I worry that I am too much, or too little or not enough. I feel like I am not DOING enough or being enough. I’m not making enough of a difference. I’m not doing my part. ~
I know we all worry. It’s what we fill our heads with, especially when things are going right! Or in those quieter moments (like a week in Ubud on your own). ~
Most of us distract ourselves from these worries because we don’t want to deal with them. Ever wondered why you struggle so much be still? You’re avoiding your head. I know this because I do it too! There is a whole world of stuff up in their that can only be seen when I slow down. That’s scary.
~
But actually, it’s super powerful. You know why? Because we can reign that shit in. We can override that stuff. We don’t have to give it power. We can reset those channels so they don’t keep playing over and over (it gets boring having the same worry every single day, doesn’t it?). We can change it. We can change our thoughts. We can change our state of being!
~
This time on my own has challenged me to do that. I have had to bring in a lot of affirmations and mantras that I haven’t used in a long time. I have called in spirit guides and guardians (sounds hippy dippy but it works) and surrounded myself with white light more than once. Call me a white witch. But I feel so good for moving through this stuff. ~
It’s up to us really. We have a choice. Do we let those worries run our life? Or do we let them flow? What we focus on grows. IE squats equal 🍑 Focus on shit and it’s a shit storm that’s running out of control. Focus on letting that shit flow on by leads to a more free mind. More space to be creative. More space to love.
~
Besides. Whatever is going to happen, happens anyways right. It’s mostly up to the universe. So, it’s best to surrender. We’re never going to be completely free of worry. But if we can keep it small. Light. Then, we win. We are FREE.

If you have time to get in your car and pick up takeout or get delivery, you have time to cook at home.
Ground beef tacos and “refried” (aka mashed) beans in 30-35 minutes.
Is this meal “perfect,” no. If I were to nitpick myself I’d say it needs more vegetables. BUT, it’s still far better than ordering takeout/delivery.
Small choices/changes go a very long way over time.

From my heart ❤️ ✨Once upon a dozen years ago there was a girl who was broken. She drank the Kool aid and life magically 🦄changed...✨ HA! 🤦‍♀️ If only.
It goes a little more like this... There once was a girl who was living in a broken down body. She knew there was something out there for her. She tried everything she knew how to do- and even many things she had never heard of. 🙎‍♀️ And then one day a friend made a suggestion.
She researched and dug until she found her fit. 📒📱💻 Her friends made fun of her. Her family laughed at her. People said things behind her back. 🙁

But. If. Not. This. Then. What?! 🤷🏼‍♀️ She was determined.

She found success. Her body was free. Her mind was clear. The pain lifted, the fog gone. ....and she lost some of her once so called friends.

Very proud of my carb intake for today, but wishing the protein and fat grams were switched 🔄 My goal is to stay between 70-90g fat, depending on how active or hungry I am that day, and 110-120g protein. I didn’t measure out the cheese and pepperoni that I had for lunch...and kinda went crazy 😅 like 2 oz of cheese and 16 pepperonis.
Tomorrow I have a bbq to go to, so I’m going to be super intentional about my day! I know that I’ll be drinking, so suggestions would be welcome! Im thinking of sticking to Tito’s and diet ginger ale, to keep it simple and carb free. I know about carb free options, mostly looking for suggestions that actually taste good! 🍸 .

I find it sad when people make fun of gluten sensitivity like it’s a fad. It’s pervasive throughout the human population… and Celiac Disease can be deadly. 😳 .
Science has revealed gluten sensitivity is the fire fueling many medical problems by causing inflammation at the cellular level. 🔥 .
Almost every degenerative disease, from Alzheimer’s and Atherosclerosis to psoriasis begin with cellular inflammation. 💥 .
For example: a 22-year-old man, diagnosed with Dystonia was given Botox by his doctors to almost no avail. Later, after going gluten-free, he was “cured” in a few months. .
A 66-year-old man suffered migraines for 30 years. Medications didn’t help. He went gluten free, improved dramatically and stopped most of his medications. .
Kids with ADHD have improved on a gluten free diet. In fact, studies have shown improvement in all 12 ADHD markers, no thanks to Ritalin or Adderall. .
The Mayo Clinic has linked gluten to dementia, while people “of a certain age” tell me stories all the time about getting their lives back on a gluten-free diet. 💪
Yes, drugs can manage some of these diseases.
But why manage diseases when you can reverse them by removing an inflammatory protein from your diet?

Beginning with the ancient Romans, so much of world history suggests that appreciation for wheat was more political than nutritional. 🤔 .
Gluten is a sticky protein found in grains like barley, rye and wheat. And it’s a staple in the Western diet, found in foods like breads, cereals and pasta. Everyday stuff that can cause migraines, brain fog, joint pain and other nasty conditions. 😬 .
Grains are a biologically recent food that have also been “altered” by the widespread use of chemical pesticides, herbicides and genetic modification. The problem is, our bodies have not adapted in stride.

It's hot, it's spicy, it's our healthy recipe of the week!

🔥 Spicy Buffalo Quinoa Burgers🔥
.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup dry quinoa
1 tin of butter beans, drained and mashed
1/2 a yellow bell pepper, finely diced
2 shallots, finely diced
1 clove of garlic, minced
3/4 cup porridge oats
1 Tbsp flax meal
1/3 cup buffalo wing hot sauce
1 tbsp. chopped oregano
salt and pepper
Burger buns, salad and condiments

Method:
1. Place the quinoa in a pot of water and simmer for about 20 minutes or according to packet instructions.
2. In the meantime, whisk the flax meal in a small bowl with the hot sauce and leave to stand.
3. In a baking bowl, mash the butter beans until they are just about broken down and still a little chunky.
4. Place the oats in a food processor and pulse a few times to make a coarse flour.
5. Chop the vegetables and add to the bowl of mashed beans along with the herbs, salt and pepper and flax seed/hot sauce. 6. Once the quinoa is cooked and cooled down a little, stir into the mixture until everything is incorporated.
7. Divide the mixture into 4 or 5 balls and squash into patty shapes. Place on a baking sheet and cook in the oven for 30 minutes at 400ºF/200ºC flipping over after 15 minutes.
8. Serve the burgers on fresh buns with your favourite toppings (try guac, salad, hot sauce and sweet potato fries).

RESULTS CAME IN HOT YESTERDAY! @fitsposandi and I just announced our $300 prize winner in our 10th macro program and we couldn't be more excited!!!! TBT to @nutritionalcoachinginstitute Level 1 nutritional coach cert in Arizona last month when I actually looked forward to 2 consecutive days of sitting in the same seat in a cold room for 8 hours at a time.

Sounds like I’m kidding right? Well, I’m not. It was awesome.

That weekend also happened to be my birthday weekend—and fittingly so... Here’s why: —•— Because investing in that education was an investment in myself.

Committing to & completing that certification marks the initial step in the direction I have chosen to take my life.

My decision to not only sign up for this program - but also maximize its value by enrolling in an additional 6 months of mentorship - embodies a much bigger concept with significance that I could never express with words, but I’ll try: being true to who I am & what I want in life.

Such a novel concept, right?...Especially coming from a family that holds such high expectations according to both cultural and societal norms....👳🏽‍♂️ This whole concept of allowing myself to want & pursue what I know to be my truth - despite the expectations of both my family and myself - is quite literally the breaking through of my glass ceiling. Talk about empowerment.

It’s getting over what I thought I “should” do.

Cutting the BS of who I thought I “had” to be.

And all of this was the best birthday gift I could have ever given myself.

MOMS, AUNTS, TEACHERS, GRANDMAS...

Because she needs to grow up in a world where we preach eating real FOOD and true health, not diets.
Because it breaks my heart to know how many young girls suffer with eating disorders because the first thing they saw to help them attain a healthier weight was the latest diet program instead of knowledge about food and using FOOD as our ally, not something to be misused.
Because it’s disgusting how “normal” talking about how much you hate your body is.
Because the continued rise in man-made disease like type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, heart disease you name it is terrifying.
Because just being told “you need to lose weight” doesn’t help someone learn to do so in a healthy and sustainable way.
Because our children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren deserve to grow up in an environment where nutrition and healthy eating in a balanced lifestyle is normal.
Because there are way too many people who think becoming healthy is too hard.
Because there are way too many people who think food is the enemy.

Wanna know how to make the BEST pseudo, super easy tzatziki sauce?

2 mini cucumbers, grated and drained
2 Tbsp. 2% Greek yogurt
2 Tbsp. @tessemaes ranch dressing (I’m obsessed!!)
Juice of 1/2 a lemon (I like it tangy!)
1/2 tsp. garlic powder (or 1 minced clove)
1/4 tsp. salt

I like to cook from scratch but I also love easy subs like adding the ranch because my fresh dill in the garden isn’t ready. ••

With this new Instagram account I wanted to give back in some way. I’m not at the stage financially where I can donate my money (but close), and with three fur babies I can’t foster any more animals either. So I’m working alongside @cheltenhamcatrescue to help some of their darlings to find their forever homes.

My first cat found its way to my family when I was about 8-years old. Her company was unlike anything I had ever experienced. Not that I recommend this but my Dad couldn’t afford to get her desexed so she had many litters which gave me A LOT of experience. Jump to 20-years later and I still couldn’t imagine my life without my three little ones. Each have their own personality, each have gotten me through hard times, and each make my life so FUN! And for those who aren’t cat people, I get it, it’s OK! But did you know that every cat left undesexed can produce up to 42,000 cats in 7-years! Obviously it’s in all of our best interests to make sure that people can only have access to microchipped and desexed cats (here’s looking at you @gumtreeaus). So without further ado, here is Andy! Andy with a big purr and gorgeous eyes. He is located in Endeavour Hills and more can be learned by heading to the @cheltenhamcatrescue website or page. But for real, I’ve been thinking a lot lately and wanted to share with you.
_
My goals have shifted with my workouts....for so long I’ve always wanted to loose weight, tighten up, tone, get shredded etc (#teamneversatisfied) . So now that that isn’t my goal, I’ve thought...why am i even working out?
_
It made me think......Working out is sooooo much more then just loosing weight!!! It’s a stress reliever, confident booster, energizer, endorphins booster, etc.
_
My advice to you guys is to find your “why” and keep that in your head, maybe on your phone or little sticky notes around your house and always remind yourself WHY you are working out and choosing to live a healthier life. I choose to wake up everyday workout and feed my body nutrient dense food because i know i feel GOOD on the inside and the outside. I know what it’s like to not be happy with where you are at and that motivates me to always keep moving forward. You will always have slip ups...maybe you skipped a few days of workouts or over ate a couple days in a row but none of that matters! Getting back on track and right back into your routine is what matters and what is going to count. So find your why guys...and it doesn’t always have to be to “lose weight”

Have sugar cravings been getting you down? 😢
.
They can be a real B, if you know what I mean. 🙄 .
Here’s the thing, I’m no longer at a place in my life where I completely demonize sugar, but I have an awareness of how it affects me and this is key to understand... ➡️ Sugar, begets more sugar. 💡
.
What this means is the more sugar you eat, the more you will crave. 🔑 So when you eat some ice cream to “satisfy a craving” you are actually doing the opposite. You are essentially keeping the craving alive. 😬.
So here are a few tips to get rid of unwanted sugar cravings:
1️⃣start tracking your food and look for hidden added sources of sugar. You might be very surprised by which “healthy foods” are lighting up your cravings!
2️⃣Reduce or eliminate as much sugar from your diet as possible (word of warning: you may feel a little cranky or tired for the first few days as those sugar cravings die, but when they do you’re energy and mood will be far better and more stable than they ever were when you were indulging your sugar cravings.)
3️⃣Eat whole real unprocessed foods in appropriate amounts
4️⃣increase your protein for better energy and satiety
5️⃣prioritize your sleep - lack of quality sleep drives sugar cravings. .
