Back onto HIIT training since the start this week.... my plan is to implement 3 X 20 min hiit sessions on top of my current training!

After reading so much info from @themusclephd this week on cardio and how doing the same form of cardio can lower your metabolism over time and then reading/researching into it that bit more... it’s time to change it up!

Yesterday snow feels // ❄️ We started with perfect clear conditions while we got our ski legs back and then the majority of the day was extreme snow fall & zero visibility!
This certainly made getting down the mountain an adventure when you couldn’t see a thing 🙈 (I loved the challenge). Can now so relate to all those movies when people get lost in the snow. Surprisingly very disorientating but luckily we had yellow poles to follow to keep us on track.

I (accidentally) made really, really good gluten free biscuits! 💃🏼😁 I was making supposed dinner rolls but I tried a new ingredient and it turned them in to biscuits haha! So we just ate them for breakfast with homemade blueberry jam and homemade apple butter. Ohmiword YUM!!! Working on the recipe then I'll share it 😜

I seared my scallops in a pan with coconut oil. They took all of 5 minutes to make + they tasted MAGNIFICENT. Instead of the usual potato side dish, I decided to sauté up some beans with fresh garlic, herbs, pink salt and pepper. Of course, NEVER forget your greens. 😏🌱

As many of my posts have mentioned just a few wks ago I woke up blind in one eye. Optic neuritis is a rare neuro-immune disorder that changed my life&perspective. Soon after I was told it’s cause is likely do to MS. At first, I could not even pick up my head ...I thought does this mean I can never work out again ? What will happen to me ? Who will ever want to date me??!!
Although my risk of having an underlying disease such as MS is increased i learned an important lesson. Why stress over can not be controlled?
Each day ( some are better than others) I saddle up, put on sneakers a smile and do work. Doing any less would be selling myself and others short.
I am forever thankful for my family, doctors& @Myletis.org

Do you ever wake up feeling anxious before the day has even begun? I do. This has been me the last few days and here are some helpful tools if you’re experiencing the same:
.
Avoid or reduce caffeine. If you’re not in a place where you can take a break without getting withdrawal symptoms, even just switching up your form of caffeine can ease some of the anxiety while still giving you a gentle lift.
.
Take L-Theanine throughout the day to help your brain and body not be on high alert.
.
Write it all down. Journal to get those emotions and scattered thoughts down. But also write down all your to do’s so your cells don’t have to hold on to them. Triage and prioritize your list so it’s not just one big blob of overwhelm.
.
BREATHE. Take a deep slow abdominal breath every time you’re stopped at a red light and every time you go to the bathroom. This will add oxygen and calm and softening to your body WITHOUT taking up any extra time.
.
Some gentle herbs include oats, lavender, chamomile, passionflower, lemonbalm. Stronger herbs (perhaps best for night if you’re sensitive but ok during the day if anxiety is high) include kava, hops, catnip, skullcap, poppy, valerian.
.
Acupuncture. Obvs. To move stuck qi as well as to help build blood so our Spirit has a home.
.
Get outside and walk.
.
All of the above will help take the edge off and sometimes it’s just a stirring of emotions due to the stars and planets or life circumstances or a soul growth spurt that we just need to move THROUGH. But use the above as helpers to get calm enough to be able to listen to where the anxiety is ultimately coming from and to hear what our body is asking us to process. It ain’t always fun but absolutely necessary.

If you take a little time to clean and cut your juice ingredients into gallon bags, the process is t such a pain in the ass.

I’ll normally prep for 4 drinks to have over 4 days. Not a lot of calories, fills you up, and makes you feel like you’ve actually done something to positively impact your health.

ive been obsessed with different grains lately- whether it be rice, quinoa, couscous, you name it!
so i made this delicious bowl yesterday and am actually eating another one right now, as well.
i just threw together some quinoa, edamame, peas, chickpeas, steamed carrots and broccoli, avocado, and some hot salsa! the perfect protein, carb, fat ratio.
i went for a walk this morning and also did some yoga, made oatmeal... then my textbooks were delivered to my house!!!
ive been reading through the first chapter of my statistics book since i’ll be starting that on monday.
im so excited about that...

You don’t need to eat like “everyone else”🙅‍♀️ I know our brains can see people post photos of their food and sometimes say (untruthful) things to use like, “They don’t eat carbs at breakfast, maybe you shouldn’t either.” The foodie/ fitness community has many perks, but with all good things come the bad parts as well. I’d say everyone has at one time compared their intake to someone else and in response questioned themselves. Keep in mind that everyone has different calorific needs, we all need different macros according to our bodies and lifestyle, and not everyone posts everything they eat. Instagram is a highlight reel. So while you may have seen this photo and thought I just had this salad as my meal, what you don’t see is the toast and fruit I had on the side 🤷🏼‍♀️ #foodforthought

I don’t know what you see here, but I see food freedom. The only way I have been able to repair my relationship with food and stop the cycle of bingeing, guilt, restriction, repeat is to honor my cravings. Most of the time it’s juice and raw veggies with feta, because that is my fav. Couldn't decide if I wanted comforting takeout or if I should make myself lunch, so i settled for a compromise. Continued my wheat pasta phase plus added stuffed grape leaves from Abo Youssef's Mediterranean food truck. I’m currently a la playa🌊🌴 for a week with my fam-o for our annual beach vaca. I acknowledge the privilege I have to be able to take a full week off work & I certainly don’t want to take this time for granted, but after a few months of summer festivities, I’m honestly ready to dive head first into the fall semester. As much as I love the warm sun☀️ & chill vibes😎, it’s also the hardest season for me to actually be productive. I have so many projects in motion, and I’m really looking forward to waking up early and cranking out some quality work in a quiet coffee shop☕️ without a million excuses & distractions. I’m also excited to have a set home base (I’ve been in limbo between my family home & college rental all summer), so that I can establish a more consistent meal prep & workout routine. I’ll be the first to admit I really enjoy changing things & feel stuck when I’m in a strict routine for too long, but I also do my best work when I have a little more structure.🤷🏼‍♀️ What can I say, life’s confusing but ya just gotta do your best to figure it all out. •

This is so delicious. I love this recipe! It is superfood powered, and is perfect for brunch or even dinner! The kale contains the highest levels of antioxidants, Swiss chard covers more than 100 percent of your daily vitamin K needs, and spinach contains many flavonoid compounds which protect against many cancers.
Baked Eggs with Superfood Greens
Serves 4

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup sliced yellow onion
3 garlic cloves, minced
5 cups kale leaves, stemmed and chopped
5 cups Swiss chard, stemmed and chopped
2 cups spinach leaves
3 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
4 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Freshly ground pepper
4 large eggs
Sliced French Baguette

1. Heat the olive oil in a medium ovenproof skillet, over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until tender, 4 to 5 minutes. Add the kale, Swiss chard and spinach, one cup at a time, and sauté, tossing, until just tender. Remove from heat.
2. Stir in yogurt, 2 tablespoons of the cheese, the lemon juice, salt, and black pepper to taste.
3. Crack the eggs on. Top. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake until set, about 10 minutes. Serve with sliced baguette.

😂😂😂 This is hilarious and exactly how it always felt when I used to try and diet. I never lost weight, in fact I continued to slowly gain weight, and I wasn’t ever happy with any of it. Diets don’t work in the long run and they never worked in the short term for me. To make real changes we absolutely have to make lifestyle changes. Especially if we’re dealing with health issues we’re trying to reverse or control. And what’s great about making life changes is that we can still eat our cake sometimes! We can still go to a party and indulge some. If you’re not feeling deprived you’re a lot less likely to go and eat the whole buffet and then feel regret afterwards for crashing the diet train. 😂 From my highest weight I have lost 42lbs over the last few years. Sure, on a diet I could have possibly lost that in a year or two, but I never learned anything on diets, so I’m sure I would have simply gained it all back once stopping any kind of diet. Even though it’s taken like four or five years I have never gone back up in weight over these years. I continue to make positive changes with the foods I choose to eat and with exercise. Get off the diet train, eat a lot more plant-based foods, and make life long changes. 🙂

☕️ Hielitos de café endulzados con Stevia.
( 1 taza de café americano endulzado al gusto; los dejas congelarse durante 4 horas o toda la noche ).
🥄 2 cucharadas de semillas de chia remojadas en 1/4 de taza de leche de almendras durante toda la noche en el refrigerador.
🥛 2/3 de taza de leche de coco sin azúcar.

Each school year and each semester I like to make new goals. They are times I like to look back at what I’ve accomplished and see how far I have come, but also look at the areas that I want to improve. As it was the first day of school today, I wanted to share my goals for this this semester, but before I get there I want to remind you all that it’s okay to dream big always ✨ but make sure they no not counteract each other, thats key in making achievable goals 🙌

This past month I’ve been meditating on the mantra “less is more”. Since moving home from grad school I’ve purged 5 huge bags of clothes to Goodwill and trashed close to 30 empty shoeboxes!! I not only was able to declutter the physical “stuff” but also have been aware of the chaos going on in my mind, “What are the next steps after grad school?”, “Should i start applying for jobs?”, “When will i pass my exam?”, “Will i have enough money to live on my own?” HOW OVERWHELMING. I was driven by anxiety and frustration.
After my trip to northern Cali, i finally was able to catch my breath and make a plan in order to settle and eradicate my fears.
Whenever you feel like you’re suffocating, take yourself out of the situation and go for a hike, walk, the beach or outside in order to declutter the uncertainty that makes you question your self worth.
You don’t need a big elaborate plan; keep it simple and attainable. “Once you need less you will have more”
