I wrote the 28 Day Reset NOT because I want to encourage dietary restrictions... I know there are 500 diets out there telling you what to eat and what not to eat. In the long term, I'm not about that. There is freedom within a healthy whole foods lifestyle for beer and brownies once in a while.

Game face is on! I got work to do!

I wanted to get fit and toned for summer which means I really should have started working out during the winter months. I did not mentally prepare myself for it, not to mention, it was so cold! ☃️

When you change the way you think and just get on with it, change happens. We can make things so looooooong and think too hard that we end up doing nothing. Stop overthinking and go for it!

I'm really serious about my health and fitness, it's up to me to stay focussed on my goal not just for summer but all year through. I'll forgive myself if I go off track as long as I don't stray too far!

Feeling Peckish? Try my homemade hummus recipe! Loaded with fibre, protein and nutrients this tasty treat is a go -to!

INGREDIENTS
450 grams cooked chickpeas
1½ tablespoons tahini
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
3 to 4 tablespoons lemon juice (or to taste)
pinch sea salt (or to taste)
1 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
¼ cup water (to adjust consistency if required)
pinch ground paprika to serve
pinch cayenne pepper or finely chopped chilli to serve (optional)

METHOD
Place cooked chickpeas and tahini in a food processor.
Add garlic, olive oil, 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, sea salt and cumin (if using). Blend at a low speed until smooth, scraping down the sides if required to combine thoroughly.
Gradually add extra water if a smoother consistency is required and more lemon juice to taste.
Spoon into a dish and sprinkle with ground paprika. Cover and refrigerate for the flavours to combine until ready to serve.

PREVENT KNEE INJURIES

Video 1 - Lateral Line Training

Your body has a ton of ways of creating stability during movement. When we train specifically to prevent or limit the risk of injury our goal is to train the body to use these different stabilizing systems

In this video my client is performing a step back lunge while having to fight the band trying to pull her upper body off balance and to the left. By setting up the pull to turn her left and having her step back with her right leg I am attempting to isolate her lateral line of stability.
In simple terms the band makes her want to shift her weight to her right side, but by forcing her to slide the right foot back we keep the load on the left leg and knee.

Is my client performing this perfectly...no. She has medial instability in her left knee which is why we are doing the exercise. So yes her left leg is rotating inward more than we'd like. The progression for this movement is to aim toward more and more proficiency. Not perfect. The focus of this training sessions was getting her to load the leg and control the core. We continue to correct with each session.

Video 2 - Spiral Line Training

This you may be more accustomed to. Here the goal is to teach the body to properly shift weight from one side to the other. This is actually 1 of the initial steps in learning to protect and stabilize the knee during movement.

We use the band pulling the upper body left, with the right front having to hold the load. This teaches the body to drive the left arm and right leg together. This left to right top to bottom connection is the spiral line or sling that is essential to most sports performance and human locomotion.

In truth you don't have to train really weird angles or ways to create stability and or prevent injury, but you must explore how muscles carry, bare and distribute your weight.

It's the little things in each day that can boost someone up. A smile. A quick hello. Maybe even letting someone into traffic. Take advantage of serving people.
My personal goal is too help revolve a person into someone, that is happy and fully comfortable in there body. To do this you must change the way you look at the life you are living, as well as change the way you live it.

Big bowl of hearty goodness after my walk this morning. Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day and one I hate to admit I used to skip. This bowl is so easy and so yummy i have it several days a week.
