Summertime means BASIL!! One thing everyone says about Basil, is the less you cook it, the better it is! It’s fragrance is more robust raw! That’s why one of our favorite no cooking basil recipes is...yep you know what we are going to say, PESTO!! 🌱😍☀️
Check out our super easy recipe below and as always, let us know what you think!! ⬇️🤗 What You'll NEED: -3 cups Basil, fresh slightly packed leaves
-2 tsp Garlic
-1 tsp Lemon, zest
-2 tsp Lemon juice
-1/2 cup Olive oil
-1/4 cup Pine nuts, toasted
-1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

What'll You'll NEED TO DO
- Add the basil leaves, parmesan cheese, minced garlic lemon zest, pine nuts, lemon juice and, if using, red pepper flakes to a blender or food processor. Blend continuously until the ingredients start to breakdown. If you prefer a more coarse pesto, use the pulse setting. Stream in the olive oil and allow the ingredients to emulsify with the oil. You want to continue processing until the oil is combined with the basil and your other ingredients. Taste the pesto, add additional garlic or parmesan to preference. Add to a favorite pasta dish, brusetta, summer salad, list goes on and on!! ENJOY! 💚🌿🌱

When you go to the gym to train - do you have a purpose? Over my years of training I can tell you that in the beginning, I didn't always walk in the gym with purpose. My training for the day was made from exercise to exercise on a whim...I'd do the typical 3 sets of 10 which I thought was universally required for muscle growth. Thus - my body never made drastic changes. Why? Three reasons...lack of a PLAN, PREPARATION and EFFICIENCY.

My time spent in the gym was largely a waste...I didn't do enough to properly work and fatigue the muscle for growth. I certainly didn't eat according to my goals. You'd often find me breezing through my workouts and chatting away. I finally became tired of not seeing the progress I wanted and I got serious....in gaining knowledge!

I went through a ton of trial and error and found what truly works. If you are going to make the time to train - (time which none of us seem to have!) why do it for nothing?! Why go in the gym without a plan, breeze through workouts and see little, if any, changes for your efforts? So lets change directions and don't let that be you: develop a training and nutrition PLAN, PREPARE to be EFFICIENT with your training time both physically and mentally (meaning, prepare your mind to train - be IN the workout vs just going through the motions as well as knowing what you have to do regarding your workload to get stronger and to cause muscle growth physically). Then, watch the changes REALLY start to happen!

This is life!!!! Baked a @realgoodfoods pepperoni pizza. Then put it in @cutdacarb flatbread that I cut into squares with goat cheese, basil, and sprayed with @simplybeyondfoods garlic spray. I formed a ravioli and seared it with egg wash. Then I dipped the 3 raviolis in the egg yolks and coated them with @nutcrumbs Italian seasoning. After I fried them can olive oil I talked with a little bit of olive oil, @midstruesicilian pizza sauce, more nutcrumbs, and parmesan. 😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️ I'm done this fried ravioli heck is e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g

My relationship with food was unhealthy. *

THE EASIEST WAY TO NATURALLY DETOX:

The oh so relaxing #detoxbath 🛀 .
I’m still trying to escape allergies/sinus infection and I want nothing more than to help my body detox and restore. So tonight, my agenda is a soothing soak followed by a #charcoalmask
.
I love taking #epsomsalt baths! Why? Epsom is a mineral compound composed of magnesium and sulfate. Magnesium helps reduce inflammation, while sulfates help the body flush toxins.
.
This 40 minute ritual is where I can reset and ground myself. I have also found that some of my best ideas and inspiration come from my detox baths. Maybe it’s because it is a healing escape from reality, or maybe it’s because I’m forced to put my phone down for 40 minutes or maybe it’s because my body is ridding itself of mental and emotional toxins. Whatever it is, it triggers ambition and inspiration in me. It doesn’t matter how bad I ate that day, what stressed me out at work or what negative energy found it’s way to me, this detox ritual always hits the reset button for me.

Here’s how to do it:
* Fill tub to hottest temperature you can withstand (to initiate sweat and toxin release)
* I drink hot lemon water to help heat up my core 🍋
* Add 2 cups epsom salt
* Add 1 cup baking soda
* Optional add-ins: Himalayan salt, ACV, essential oils, clay or hydrogen peroxide
* Turn on Pandora (Ocean Waves for Deep Sleep or Spa Radio are my two fav stations)
* Light a toxin free candle (not a fragrance one 😵 you don’t need to be inhaling that 💩)
* Soak for 30-40 minutes
* I always do this before bed and I have the best night’s sleep 💤

So the rumor is out, and yes, I am pregnant! A week ago, my whole bellyish area felt all soft a squishy like a burrito or 5. Now, my lower belly feels tighter like baby is starting to pop. I’m 8 weeks! And I feel AWFUL!! A lot of my days are sitting right here on this couch and these Optavia shakes are sort of saving me, with what little management I can give my nausea.. I know they are not “bad” for you but I am always an advocate of whole fresh foods, and not eating packaged things. But hey, I gotta do what I gotta do right now, and some of them are pretty tasty! This one is a wild strawberry, full of protein, and I added a banana and frozen blueberries. I have to eat every hour! So I hope this helps me not eat actual whole meals every hour! 😬 Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sipping on these through the day.

I have to share a total win for me today. I went to my gyms birthday boot camp class (yay 14 years for Slainte!!), and we did 14 hover holds. Now, if you’ve ever done hover holds, you know they ruin you physically. Not only did I complete 7 or them, but I modified the last 7 and didn’t give up!! :

Prior to working with my coach, I could’ve never ever EVER done a single hover hold. Trust me, I tried and it was embarrassing. But I DID IT and I am hype as all hell. :

I also have to give a huge shoutout to @jfinkyoga for teaching me the proper version of a chaturanga and helping me progress with that!!!!! She taught me how to get there and it’s also a huge help to these hover holds. :

I’ve been crazy busy and sooo tired. I haven’t been around much! I have been focusing on myself and my family. I need mental health days too! I have been nailing my breakfast and meals at work no problem. What has been getting me is surprise treats or night time snacking. I have made a conscious effort this week to eliminate both. Food diary for today. Pictures from end to beggining. Breakfast was coffee and toast. I was going to eat it with an apple and peanut butter but my apple was bad. Lunch was left over lemon garlic pasta I made last night for the family but there wasn't much left so I made a ginormous salad. My husband wanted me to make more for him to take to work tonight so I did and paired that with vegan eggplant parmesan. It was the first time I made it and it was delicious!!! I had 2 plates! 🤤 oh and I had a brownie bite and tried out the new starbucks protein drink.

My breakfast this morning. Blueberry & banana smoothie, complete with fruits and berries whole food capsules. Lemon water, coffee and an Apple and an orange. It's a strange breakfast, it's groceries shopping day, I used what ever was leftover lying around! 😂 my one vice daily is coffee...can't help it! It's the one thing I really look forward too every day, as I'm pregnant I only have one a day!
