It’s that time of year again where I turn into a baker 🍏🍎🥧 sort of 🙃

If I want to eat anything at family holidays, I pretty much need to make it and bring it 🤷🏼‍♀️ not very #glutenfree or #vegan friendly once we get to the extended family... sooo I make what I want to eat 😉 apple pie, mashed potatoes, squash and stuffed mushrooms and lots of veggies this year🧡

So very pleased with this shoot I did with @oliviasirois on my birthday. I wanted to have the entire shoot outdoors but it was raining too much so we settled for the Botanical Garden and I have to admit that I really love how they turned out 😍 41 is looking pretty good on me I find ☺️🎉

#facetofacefriday 😳 woah!

The left picture is me in 2014, just about a year after I found out I had Crohn’s by having an emergency right hemicolectomy 💜 I was pretty inactive, scared to travel much more than an hour or two, eating basically carbs and not much else 🍞🥔🍚 and flaring fairly frequently 💩

Right was just a couple weeks ago! Look at that difference 😯 I have done so much trial and error on everything from low fod map diet to paleo and finally found something that works for me (because everyone is different and different things work for different people ⭐️) I now work out on the regular 💪🏻 eat LOTS of fruits and veggies (that I was at first terrified of eating) I went on two 12 hour plane rides this year ✈️ with no issue!! and flares are far less frequent 😍 Plus I’m just over all happier and more comfortable in myself 🥰

Sometimes the great changes you have made to better yourself aren’t obvious but they are there!! You just need to look for them 🤩💜

Consider this: However a food acts on the outside of your body is exactly how it will act on the inside.

Example: When you cook spaghetti, it starts off crunchy and very skinny, but when it’s cooked it becomes gummy and expands to 3x its size. It expands because starches absorb water. It becomes gummy because starches have a glue-like make up. (Throw it at the wall and watch it stick, right?) They absorb water on the outside, and they absorb water in our bodies. They are gummy on the outside and they are gummy inside our bodies.

When you eat a mango on the other hand, it doesn’t need to borrow any water from your digestive tract because it’s already filled with water itself. In fact, it GIVES water. It hydrates on a physical and a cellular level, where we really need it most. It doesn’t leave behind a residue, and in fact, it acts as an astringent as it passes through the body, helping to keep the digestive tract clean.

So then you can ask yourself- ‘Which of those processes would I rather have going on inside?’ To me, one seems the obvious choice. I want something that will break down easily, fuel my cells with the water and oxygen they need, and not leave any gunk behind on it’s way out. No brainer. Fruit for the win, every time 😎

Since today is the first snow storm of the year in MA 🙄❄️ how about throwing it back to warmer times in Hawaii 🌺🌴I still can’t believe how beautiful it was and how I ever got so lucky to be able to get that experience 🤩 (and be able to afford it 😬 thank goodness for work at home part-time jobs 💵)

When someone is battered and struggling, we don’t kick them when they’re down. We show them loving kindness and we help nurse them back to health!

Why don’t we do the same with our insides? Why don’t we build up a sluggish organ by cleaning it out and giving it a boost? Why do we pump chemicals into it that cause it further distress and decay? It doesn’t make any logical sense, and yet that’s the advice we most often get.

I find the people who scoff at natural remedies are the same ones who have never tried any 😇✌🏼✨

One more time for the people in the back:

Fruit is not the enemy 😀😀😀😀 Every cell in our body runs on glucose. That means whatever we eat has to be turned into sugar before we can use it, which also means that our body’s preferred source of fuel is carbohydrates.

Now, if there is some issue with this conversion, then you might find yourself feeling like you can’t handle fruit. But that doesn’t make it the fruit’s fault. That points to a weak pancreas, or a sluggish adrenal system.

We run on sugar. Technically speaking, we can run on fats and proteins, BUT the body has to work that much harder to convert these over to sugar, and then we pay for it in the long run because that process leaves behind a toxic byproduct. If people knew the real cost of avoiding fruit in favor of chugging protein powder, they would probably think twice.

Fearing nature is kinda silly, no? It’s only the years of conditioning that make us question what we already know in our gut to be true. No one gets heart disease or diabetes or MS from an abundance of plant sugar, just like no one detoxifies with an abundance of fat. The two just aren’t synonymous.

Fruit can be your absolute best ally. The more you can incorporate, the more your health will benefit. If you have trouble processing it, start slow, but know that cleaning out your system will help your body do so better and better down the line 😊

Not gonna lie, as much as I’m happy the wedding was a success, I’m also happy it’s done. I’ve been super busy and stressed, I haven’t been sleeping super well, a lot of stuff threw me off my regular routine and my diet hasn’t been on point and neither has my training. I’ve been tired and struggling. Now that it’s done and over with, I know that being back to my regular programming will help me get all of this under control. I need this routine in my life. I need this planning. That’s exactly what helped me succeed in the first place. It’s not dramatic... yet. And I don’t want to let it get to that point. So I’m back at it ! I’ve decided to not plan any outings this week to allow me to take care of myself. Dance class tonight, training tomorrow and Thursday night and I’m meeting my fabu osteopath on Friday to treat the shoulder that’s been bothering me. My lunches are done. I’m back to measuring my food. Let’s do this ! 🙌🏻

Today... For some reason, i was in much need of a pick me up late in the day. Might be all the rain or gloomy skies today in Georgia! I think I need some daily sunshine in my life!
