So my doctor suggested medical leave. My joints have been hurting a lot, especially my foot. I’ll start the day fine and end up limping. So I’m off a month to rest. However i wanted to make this an opportunity for growth as well. Being a leave makes me feel sick. But i decided to use this time to strengthen. And that includes my mind. Will be trying to build up my food habits and first one is at least an hour of reading. This book has been on my shelf for years! Who’s read it? We all know that we should drink more so here are a few habits to consider:
💧Drink half your bodyweight in ounces of water (if you weight 160lbs, drink 80oz of water each day).
💧Carry a bottle everywhere with you as a reminder to keep drinking.
💧Eat raw fruits and vegetables – they are dense in water. You can get water from food, not just from beverages.

Crossfit taught me the importance of lifting heavy weight about six years ago. Somehow in the last year I lost sight of that and convinced myself heavy was 10 & 15 lb dumbbells.
So when I heard about this new at home weight lifting program I was excited to really truly go back to my roots and lift HEAVY! Like 25 & 35 lb dumbbells 🙌🏼 and after today’s workout with those heavier weights I remember how much I love the feeling! I got my arse handed to me and I just love it 🏋🏼‍♀️ swipe right for that after pic 😂

I’ve been making sure I push myself every week. Whether it’s one more rep or five more pounds, I don’t allow myself to remain stagnant.
Last week, I felt pretty defeated after my Deadlifts because I couldn’t lift the amount I had the week before. There are those days—days when your strength isn’t where you know it can be. That was me last week (coupled with extremely hot, humid weather 😪🙅🏻‍♀️).
Today I loaded up that bar with an unwillingness to fail. I focused completely. Everything else in the world fell away except my desire to pick the damn weight up off the floor. And it went up.
I’m officially lifting more than my body weight. I could sit here and compare myself to those who are lifting 200+ pounds, but I’m not allowing myself to do that. Where I am is further than I ever thought I’d come. Nobody can outdo that. It’s my journey. MINE. And I’m falling more and more in love with all its challenges and victories.

I’ll have to admit, it’s been hard getting into a consistent routine lately. Not just with workouts and running, but with life in general. The heat, trips, jet lag, inconsistent sleep schedule, work, head noise, life stuff, knee acting up a little, needing rest (and listening to my body), laziness, heat 🔥(worth mentioning again, lol), excuses, etc. have taken over.

While sometimes you need to rest, step back, recharge, etc., you also need to find something to look forward to, find hope, and bring back the motivation.

Today, I started a new @beachbody workout program by @joelfreemanfitness called LIIFT4 (@liift4) and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Not only will it include lifting, HIIT, and core exercises, and workouts that are 35-40 minutes, but the program also has 3 rest days a week, which is perfect for runners, people with busy lives, and people with other things going on. (If you’re interested or want more info, drop me a DM.) I’m looking forward to this program, doing something new, getting back to a better running schedule, planning for my next big trip, and finding that balance again. .

Lately I’ve thought a lot about what I want to do with my life. And the only answer I can come up with is “I don’t know” •

It’s easy to feel stuck and lost in life. Comfortability is what keeps you there. I’ve had ideas in my head of things I want to accomplish but they all seem too big to even begin... aka fear. •

Something clicked the other day and I realized the only person that can hold you back and keep you in that comfortable place is YOU. No one is forcing you to stick with that job you hate. No one can wake up and make the choice to be happy for you. That’s all up to YOU.


So if you aren’t following your passion right now or working towards it... why not? •

And if fear makes you stagnant and you’re stuck in a job feeling simply comfortable then it’s time to make changes. •

What’s the worst that could happen? •

When I found out I had breast cancer, I was afraid I’d never achieve my goal of doing a handstand. But I realized it was my LIMITING BELIEFS that were keeping me from even trying:
➣ “I’ll never have the range of motion I did before my mastectomy”
➣ “I’ll never have the strength I did before my mastectomy”
➣ “I will be too sick to train as hard as I want to”
➣ “I am diseased”
➣ “My athletic life is over”
➣ “I might as well give up”
.
Then I saw people like @paige_previvor hitting the gym after her mastectomy. @katiemarvinney running the Boston Marathon after chemo. These inspiring women were living their lives and crushing their goals–and I wanted to be one of them.

So I replaced my limiting beliefs with positive ones, and just like that... my life overflowed with potential.
➣ “I’ll work within my new limits, but I'll keep pushing to expand them"
➣ “I can get stronger than I ever was before"
➣ “I will accept off days for what they are, and bounce back with a vengeance"
➣ “I have been given a new chance at life"
➣ “My new athletic life is just beginning"
➣ “I will never give up"

| LOVE YOURSELF | Find ways everyday of expressing your love for yourself. I used to find this concept bizarre but now I have totally embraced loving myself. I give myself as much respect and care as I do my children. I ask myself what I can do to make myself happy each day and then I try and do it! Why the fuck not?! If I’m not going to take care of myself, sure as hell no one else is. I am willing to sacrifice the security of a 9:5 job to satisfy my desires and I have total belief that life will support my choices. I’m not lazy, I’m a classic over achiever but sometimes you need to take your foot off the pedal and let life come to you. Enjoy everyday; that’s what life is about. Getting real and honest here. The first picture is from January when I was three months postpartum. I was so embarrassed and disgusted by it. I was harsh on myself and refused to post the pictures anywhere. The picture on the left side I am almost nine months postpartum. Feeling some #bodypositivity wins today! Periodically my bank has complementary cookies out for customers, so many times I’ve seen them and told myself “no”, today I took 2🍪🍪 •After that I canceled not one, but two, gym memberships that I don’t use and waste money on. I held on to them thinking I NEED to get back to the gym, but I don’t go, because it doesn’t fit my lifestyle anymore, I don’t enjoy it, it feels forced and it sends me back into criticizing every inch of my body. ✋🏼No thank you. •I love where I am at in my life and who I am, I’m the most comfortable, healthy, positive, grateful, and nonjudgmental I have ever been. I’m definitely not the skinniest girl in the room. I’m far from perfect. However, I’m still happy with myself and my health. I can sprint, lift heavy, do yoga and other athletic things. I have the energy and good health I need and want. I eat sugar, but I also eat healthy. 1. Recipe exploration, development, testing.

5. Spell check, grammar check round one.
6. Start adding in featured foodies information and websites.

My next plan of action is to really sit down and articulate all of the self love elements of the book. I have so many words and little entries I’ve written but I need to decide how I want to piece it all together. I’m aiming for this to take about a week or so, I have been non stop for the last 2 weeks and I set myself exactly one month of non stop hustle. I think setting deadlines for ourselves is so important, even if they are small ones. Amongst book work another goal I have for myself, week to week, is to balance out all of my sedentary time with lots of hot yoga. This is helping keep my mind at ease as well.

I’m back home for 3 days, so of course a trip to @northstarcafe for my fav salad & iced coffee was mandatory! I never knew I could miss a salad so much 😂 before I worked on my relationship with food, I viewed salads as punishment - boring diet food I had to eat if I had been “bad” and eaten things I “shouldn’t have.” I’m SO thankful to have shifted away from those labels of “good and bad” about food to a place where I can consider a delish salad every bit as much of a treat as pizza or a burger! Yes, I have meltdowns even after all this hard work I've done trying to be a better person. Do I share my feelings? Nope. Do I shut people out? Yup. Am I stubborn as shit? Yes. Am I continuing to work on myself? Yes. Will I ever be satisfied as a parent? No. Is parenting the hardest job by far? Yes. Did I loose my shit yesterday? Yes I did. My apology tour started within the hour after but I still have demons to deal with, and thoughts of hate and negativity towards myself I can't shake. Being a mom of boys knowing I'm molding them into the adults they may become is the biggest challenge of my life. Trying to teach them tact, manners, respect for all, and when there humor is ok, is a hell of a struggle. I have smart ass kids it's deep in there DNA, were teaching them when and where it's ok, is a challenge. How to Avoid Junk Food:

Don't. Buy. It. I can almost guarantee that half of the junk you eat, you bought and brought into your home. Probably with the thought "I'll just have a few, no harm," in mind.

Yet you probably dove into those unhealthy snacks while watching T.V., right? Absentmindedly eating and watching T.V., eating not out of need, but want. Eat out of need, not want. We NEED to fuel our bodies when hungry with healthy foods, but often WANT to cave into cravings and eat out of boredom. NO.

So, simple solution: don't buy crap and bring it home! You crave sweets? Eat fruit. Crave something salty? Have a salad with pepper, salt, vinegar and oil. Often times, if you are craving something, it's because you have a vitamin deficiency!!!

For example, if you crave Chocolate, you are probably low on magnesium and/or iron. Eat some dark greens! Your body is telling you what it needs, and it isn't junk food! Stop creating a dependency on sugary, processed foods that are high in fat.

Later, I will make a post regarding how eating junk food creates a dependency by activating your dopamine neurotransmitter, to better help you understand why you feel the urge to eat junk food. It's all science.

Roasted kabocha squash,cauliflower and broccoli with Avocado Tahini Drizzle
Makes 8 servings
Per serving with one tablespoon tahini drizzle
2 vegetables
1 condiment
2 fats
4 cups cauliflower, cut into florets
3 cups kabocha squash, cubed
1 cup broccoli florets
4 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon garlic powder
For the Avocado Tahini Drizzle:
1 1/2 ounces avocado
2 tablespoons tahini
1 teaspoon sesame oil
3 tablespoons olive oil
4 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
In a large bowl toss cubed squash, cauliflower and broccoli florets, salt , paprika,garlic powder cumin and 2 tablespoon olive oil.
Bake on aluminum foiled lined baking sheet in single layer for 25-35 minutes or until soft and cooked through.
In a food processor combine the ingredients for the avocado tahini drizzle and process until smooth (adding more water if needed to reach desired consistency)
