It was a joy to learn and grow together. This past Saturday was our fourth and final workshop of the year. We learned how to make healthy decisions this holiday season. It turned out to be another beautiful gathering of our community. We were glad to see our guests share their journeys to becoming more healthy and inspire each other with their testimonies. We loved that our guests were able to connect, inspire, and find a community that can help hold them accountable with their goals (swipe to see video). This made us SMILE! It also confirmed that creating safe spaces for our community to come together as we have @hanksminimarket is necessary and appreciated. I’ve been battling a head ache today, so I’m using my favorite oils to help. I use past tense right across my forehead and temples. I am also using the roller blend that I made up in my class on Sunday. It has lavender,wintergreen,lemongrass, marjoram and peppermint. Which are all great oils for any kind of aches. I’m trying to honor my body and give it the rest it needs. Listen to your body, I know I’ve said this before but it makes such a big difference when you do.

Its one of the most magical and festive times of the year which has us planning and attending countless gatherings, parties and connecting with friends and family. While it can bring excitement and happiness, it can also bring about anxiety from the stresses of planning & shopping and worry of the indulgent foods and desserts we know are going to be front and centre on the tables.
Some of us say.. f*ck it, it’s the holidays. Some of us avoid these parties all together. Some of us exhibit militant focus and control and some of us want to know how we can achieve balance and enjoyment.
Tips:
Drink lots of water to flush out all the excess sodium, sugar and ‘crap’ from these foods

Portion control – a small portion of the foods/drinks you are eyeing will not make as much of a dent as a massive pile of mashed potatoes, double portion of dessert and 6 vodka sodas.
Choose 1-2 things that are your ‘must have’ treats and resist the rest. Load up on lean proteins, veggies and salad and indulge in a small scoop or piece of whatever your less-healthy favourites are.

Eat light during the day – have enough food so you aren’t showing up hangry and ready to inhale everything in sight, but save some extra calories to have some wiggle room to enjoy a little more so you aren’t greatly surpassing your daily calorie needs.

Bring a dish – bring something a little healthier so you are guaranteed at least 1 healthier option to fill up on if the offerings at your gathering are heavy, calorie dense and nutrient less.
STRESS LESS. Stress causes cortisol to spike, which promotes fat storage in the body. Stay calm and carry on even if you know you ate a bit too much, or your meddling family member is asking when you’re getting engaged or when you’re having a baby or drilling you with other invasive questions to get your blood boiling!

It’s a little quieter than normal over here. I’m spending lots of time with family and really enjoying this stage we’re in.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking some time to get quiet and ground yourself again. In fact, I think it’s healthy. Lots of warm, homemade meals being made and we’re keeping on top of balancing the holiday treats over here to keep our immune systems up. 😉 There’s some negative talk about “self care” and “me time” and to be completely honest, it doesn’t have to be a facial, a massage and a hair mask every day. Right now my self care consists of being present, making good meals, and making sure I take my supplements.
