Resam Firiri. Resam Firiri. Bistari. Bistari. Chhromrong Jamla. Resam Firiri.
On our first night on the mountain, at the village of Ulleri, we learnt this Nepalese mountain song, taught to us by our guides. The song is a simple verse recited by hikers, guides, and of course, porters, while we walked. The lyrics are a reminder to hike slowly and steadily. It’s a song that keeps you going, one step at a time, even when your burden is so mighty, and your legs are about to give up. It tells you to take a breather whenever you need to. All this isn’t to make your destination seem further. It’s simply a way to keep everyone safe on the mountain.
