Never underestimate the power of normal.
I’d like to dedicate this post to those people out there who helped me navigate a week far from normal. You know exactly who you are. With my dad needing emergency medical care and hospitalization one week ago tonight, I thought nothing at that moment could be worse...until three days later, my mom was also in the emergency room requiring hospitalization too. What followed has been an overwhelming week filled with medical, legal, and ethical decisions involving their care that I, as their only child, struggled with. Of course, I had the help of my husband and children. But to those amazing souls who are still doing unbelievable things, completely out of their way to help my family, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Are things back to normal? Not just yet, but you have made my slow return back to my new normal just a bit easier.
This long stretch of boardwalk was the perfect metaphor for what seemed like my endless journey ahead this week, yet I was surrounded by the beauty and uplifting spirits of a few incredible people. And interestingly, I took this photo exactly one week ago today, at about this time, just before my normal changed.
