This is a picture from the wedding of my brother which was last Saturday 🎉 I also share a caption on this picture and I will explain it more on here. I already shared my story of bullying on my blog a few months ago. You can read it here.

I got bullied for so many years during high school. People called me ugly and told I wasn't worth it. Those words still hurt me when I think back of that time. I remember how I wrote in my diary that my whole class was against me and that I felt hated by everyone. I've always been that sensitive girl.

I didn't forgot those negative words and started believing those words. I didn't felt pretty at all during that time. Words can hurt so much and can cause such a negative effect on your self esteem. Bullying caused me anxiety and I got low self esteem. I thought that those words were the truth.

I never would want to experience that horrible time again. I learned that people can call you anything but that those words doesn't mean anything. People bully other people because they're jealous or feeling insecure about themselves. I was an easy target because I'm a sensitive girl and had a hard time of fitting in the group. I always felt like an outsider and different. I was in my own world.

Nowadays, I can feel pretty even though I still feel insecure sometimes and compare myself way too much to others. Last Saturday I went to the wedding of my brother. I went to the hairdresser to get my hair nice with curls and a flower. It looked so beautiful. I also wore my dream fuchsia dress. I did my make up nice and wore my favourite jewelry. Everything was just perfect. Every time I looked in the window I felt so beautiful. I never felt that beautiful before.

Also, I want to mention that beauty is on the inside. If I didn't wore all those things I would still be beautiful because I'm beautiful. I'm a beautiful person from the inside & out no matter what they say ❤️ Sometimes I find it still hard to believe in myself and tell myself this. I'm getting there. Baby steps forward.

I hope you all say to yourself that you are beautiful because you are. You are worth it. You are loved. Never let anyone bring you down. You are always enough ❤️❤️

Worry about my feelings being too much or confusing or overwhelming for myself and others. I’m going to embrace the too much because maybe they are too much and just enough at the same time and that’s okay. How are you feeling after the New Moon in Leo and the Solar Eclipse over the weekend? Oh yeah and Mercury is in retrograde - again! 💫

As an empath, all this cosmic action has stirred up a lot of stuff for me. (That and I just got my moon). Old stuff, like fear of sharing my true and authentic voice, lack of belief in my self worth, and the fear that my work in the world doesn't make a difference. I thought I'd faced this stuff already! •

I have, but that is the cyclical nature of life. We must examine these things again and again from different angles. We are only human after all and perfectly imperfect. •

But what I have noticed is that now when these old wounds arise, I am better able to handle them. Before, they would bole me over and I would spiral into days of anxiety and depression. But now, I look them in the eye and say "I see you. I hear you. I love you." And that's it. I make space for them to be exactly what they are, but realize they are transient and fleeting and do not define me or need to shake my roots. And my root system is strong and deep. •

So if you are feeling overwhelmed by all the crazy energies whirling around planet earth right now, trust in your roots. Take a deep breath and trust, even for a moment, that it will be alright. Yes, you might be hurting right now, but that is just part of the incredible spectrum of experience. Pain is transient. So is joy. It is ok to just be present with it all. •

When I was 6 years old my mother took me to a local dance school and signed both me, my younger sister and herself in👯‍♀️💃. I will forever be grateful for that!🙏🏼 All my Life I have been highly sensitive to peoples energy and moods. Today I use it as an important tool in my daily work as a trauma therapist/ stressmanagement coach and yoga teacher, often sensing what my clients/students feel, even if they haven’t found words to express it yet🤭
But when I was a child I carried a lot of other peoples heavy emotions in my tiny body without knowing how to free myself from it😔 But music composing and dancing became ways to completely free myself from that weight🤸🏼‍♀️🕊️ I still find it so amazing to explore different sides of myself through using my body in different/opposite ways. There are going to be times we cannot control the external world but that’s okay. Despite this, we have so much power. In fact you have the biggest strength of all, controlling your inner world, and she will not be tamed easily. She will not give up or go home when the day is done. For some reason when I think about this the imagery that comes to mind of this challenge is the trainer ‘breaking’ his horse for riding. Once the trainer accomplishes this, the two work together in a perfect and unique relationship of trust and loyalty.

This past week has been a whirlwind of on-the-go, deep fried, yes-sugar-added, “for my convenience” food. Yup, even health coaches aren’t always “perfect.” In these busy seasons in life, sometimes it’s needed. HIGHLY SENSITIVE ANGER

Most of us who are highly sensitive people have learned to repress our sensitivity as society reflected to us that it makes us weak. As a result of that, we often failed to express our purest emotions and instead let them simmer in our bellies for years and decades. Anger is one of those powerful emotions. Raise your hand if you’ve ever sat in a group that was making fun of something you considered a sensitive matter but once you spoke up they shut you down.🙋🏻‍♀️ Raise your hand if someone close to you ever mistreated a waiter and it made your skin crawl.🙋🏻‍♀️ Raise your hand if you ever heard the “it’s just a dog/cat/horse/rabbit/etc.” line and it made you feel sick.🙋🏻‍♀️ Raise your hand if someone ever overstepped your boundaries and when you expressed that they told you that you’re “overreacting”.🙋🏻‍♀️

It is situations like that, where our sensitivity is not honored, respected and protected, that we CONTRACT + REPRESS. These emotions are bound to eventually come up but because we don’t process them, they come up in an unhealthy way. Today I want to speak to all of my fellow empaths who have ever experienced rage attacks. You know those moments when you totally LOSE. YOUR. SHIT. over something “unimportant” because you have been quiet for so long that your system cannot handle it anymore? That’s what I’m talking about. These moments are filled with anger that is uncontrollably running out you and you do NOT like yourself in those moments at all. Your environment is shocked by the outburst but funnily enough gives you the same message as when you are expressing sensitivity: “CALM DOWN. You are freaking out over nothing. You are too sensitive. Get a thicker skin!” Sounds familiar?🤷🏻‍♀️

Soms geef ik mezelf een kleine peptalk. Zoals nu. Yes, I can! Vind het spannend om een account te hebben en de twijfel slaat ineens toe. Besef mij nu dat ik volgers moet hebben en mijn feed moet vullen met mooie plaatjes.. Ik moet ineens zo veel. Even mijzelf terug fluiten en mij er aan herinneren dat het niet gaat om het aantal volgers of likes, maar om het normaliseren van HSP en mijn ervaringen delen met anderen. Dat is mijn uiteindelijke doel. Al zou het natuurlijk te gek zijn als dit een succes wordt.

What do I want for today? I want to move through the day with intention and ease. To flow from one thing to the next. Take naps, enjoy the calmness I am feeling. No pressures, no stress. (As my mind immediately says, "you can't do that!" lol Oh yes we can!) I don't live a stressful life. -

I've worked hard at making my life and my space peaceful. It's outside forces that run through me like a tsunami and destroy the calm. That has too stop. It wrecks me, keeps me drained and defeated. I need an energetic force field around my little space here on earth that will bounce off anything destructive. -

Hi! I’m Kate! Since I’ve never done an introduction on this page, I thought I’d go ahead and do one! From a young age I’ve always loved art and been drawn to color and shape. I started painting when I was 13 or 14 as a way to process emotions that I couldn’t necessarily put into words. My parents, bless them, can attest to the fact that I’ve always felt things very intensely. I’m what they call a “highly-sensitive person” or HSP (which is super interesting and you should look it up!) This means sometimes I see color or hear music that hits me directly in the soul. To process this, I’ve learned to create! Most of my paintings are actually snapshots of a moment of emotion for me. I prefer acrylic paints due to the ease of use and large canvases because #moreismore. I try to use synthetic brushes because goats and horses are for kisses, not brushes. ..

Maar als je je eigen stem hebt gevonden, is het belangrijk daar niet van af te wijken, zelfs als er mensen zijn die zeggen dat het raar klinkt en niet zal werken. Blijf gewoon bezig en dan zal het uiteindelijk lukken. Ik weet dat ik muziek maak die rechtstreeks uit mijn ziel komt - en als ik daardoor ren ‘gevoelige’ singer-songwriter ben, dan is het maar zo. Ik maak gewoon de muziek die ik wil maken en ik werk zo hard mogelijk om die muziek de wereld in te krijgen. Mijn imago zal naarmate ik ouder word niet verbeteren - maar mijn songs zullen beter worden, en dat is natuurlijk alleen maar goed. [einde citaat].

Dit boek ben ik momenteel aan het lezen. De auteur is inmiddels een bekende op Instagram en het boegbeeld voor body positivity. Als HSP'er ben je vaak erg bewust van je lichaam. Als je hoofdpijn hebt kan je dit bijvoorbeeld erg hinderen in je dag en een hart dat even overslaat voel je heel goed. Niet alleen die interne bewustzijn van je lijf maar vaak ook de focus op het uiterlijk is aanwezig. Ik heb altijd al moeite gehad met het accepteren van mijn lijf zoals het is en kan erg beïnvloed worden door woorden en beelden uit de media. Dit is een van de redenen waarom ik via sociale media alleen nog account volg waar ik positieve energie van krijg en lees ik geen typische 'vrouwenbladen' meer. Ben benieuwd wat dit boek mij gaat brengen. I'll keep you posted!

Hi! Ik heb vandaag eindelijk de knoop doorgehakt en een account aangemaakt over HSP. Ik weet zelf al ruime tijd dat ik HSP ben, maar geloofde er nooit zo in (...). Nu heb ik in 2017 mijn diploma Psychologie behaald aan de universiteit en heb ik gelukkig een leuke baan in de gezondheidszorg, maar voel sterk dat ik iets met mijn ervaring als HSP'er (en de moeite met accepteren, de balans vinden, de overbelasting etc.) en mijn kennis van de psychologie moest doen. Dus hier ben ik dan!

This is your centre for ALL things love! Your ability to love yourself + others. Your centre for gratitude, joy, kindness + compassion.

Here are a few signs your heart chakra is a little out of whack!
(If it is, don’t stress - there’s nothing wrong with you.)
💚 Feeling withdrawn + isolates.
💚 Being overly critical of yourself + others.
💚 Playing victim in your life.
💚 Being a chronic people pleaser.
💚 Feeling lonely.
💚 Not being able to forgive yourself or others.
💚 Feelings of intense jealousy.
💚 Constantly comparing yourself to others.
💚 You’re extremely sensitive (in a negative way). As a highly sensitive, you are innately very sensitive. But when you’re extremely sensitive, you’re taking things personally + it’s really taking toll on your life + relationships.

As a highly sensitive, it’s also important to keep this energy centre balanced + healthy because this is our centre of empathy + where a lot of our feelings stem from.

My son and I had a really interesting conversation about ‘Emotions’ , he has been getting frustrated recently and I know a lot of that comes from his close link to me and my past- I seem to have passed on some feelings of abandonment to him on a soul level, which is also a past life pattern of ours as a soul group. We can’t help the fears we sometimes project on them, it’s life and we are learning too but we can be aware of them. For example we were in a bug museum yesterday and a child asked to hold a tarantula... instantly the parent started freaking out and kept saying ‘Are you sure it’s really scary’ the child was fine... this is an obvious example of how we project our fears onto them and they absorb it.

My son and I talked about anger- only I called it ‘emotion’ because he started to use the term anger in a negative way, I asked him what colour was his anger/emotion. He instantly said red. Once we had given it a texture I asking him where he felt it... expecting him to say in his body somewhere like his heart or chest he said, I feel it all around me.

I found this so interesting. My son- like others absorbs so much of others ‘energetic baggage’ we did an exercise I will write about soon I call Dragons breath to release it▫️

I am teaching him that ‘feeling’ in this way is a super power, not anything to be worried about. We just need the right tools and awareness to help them.

If you find that lately you get easily hurt, triggered, or irritated with your significant other (and then you say it do things that only make things worse) this tip will help.

Instead of getting caught up in the overwhelming intense emotion... and lashing out with words, or storming off to hide, use the 5 second pause. Sometimes it takes 10. Take some deep breaths. Don’t act. Just allow the feeling. 🌿
It’s the magic pause that lets you reconnect to the more wise rational brain. Then you’ll be much more likely to say or do something that will benefit the relationship instead of hurt it.

I’ve come to find the solitude and stillness of the morning my most energizing and connected time of day. If at no other point, this is when I get to feel grounded in myself. Recent brain imaging research has shown that labelling emotions during difficult moments can turn down the activity in the amygdala - our fight/flight/freeze centre - and increase activity in the pre-frontal cortex (PFC) - the higher level decision-making part of the brain.

If you or a loved one struggles with emotional intensity, then you know full well how difficult - or near impossible - it can be to summon any kind of rational thinking during an amygdala hijacking. This is where a regular mindfulness practice can help tremendously.
. . .
During a mindfulness practice, we can notice + label emotions as they arise without judgment: “This is annoyance,” “This is boredom,” “This is stress.” This practice calms the amygdala and facilitates integration with the PFC, which over time translates into a neural trait of awareness, clarity + calm in the face of difficult situations.

As a highly sensitive person I tend to get very overwhelmed by the smallest problems. When something goes wrong it sucks all the energy out of me and makes be feel helpless and alone. That's why hsp benefit from writing things (their problems) down, it will allow you to see the bigger picture and help you to distance yourself from it. You are not your problem! 💖 .
