Dear You and Me,
Are you both living your privilege?
You know, we tend to forget how rare it is for all of us to be alive at this time in history.
Think of your grandparents, great grandparents, your ancestors throughout history and you are still here. Your family is still moving forward.
Somehow, your family line survived and thrived.
Do you really understand the import and the gravity of just being alive with this opportunity to live?
And yet, oftentimes, we don’t feel that way, do we? We feel small, frustrated, insignificant, and that we don’t matter or make a difference until ... Someone we love gets sick and we step up to help, or you decide to leave that situation and you find out your impact, or we’ve hit that wall where we wake up and say,”No more.” We are greater than anything that can happen to us and the first step to honoring this gift of life is to be yourself.
Do you know what that means?
Some smarty pants would respond, “If you’re not yourself then who are you?” I would answer you’re trying to follow the crowd and you’re looking for approval in other peoples’ eyes and not following what is good and right in your heart. You aren’t you, you are the crowds’ version of you.
You’re making tradeoffs and comprises that chip away at your self worth, and frankly, you and I are better than that.
So before you leave to read the next post, consider what a privilege it is to be you with all your quirks and idiosyncrasies. They aren’t “bugs”, by the way, they are “features” and I am thankful for that.
You get to be you! Don’t trade that for anything.
Be brave, be you and live the priorities that reflect that privilege of life that wasn’t won or earned. It was a gift so use it well!
Peace, love, and prioritize on.
