Today, on National Hiking Day, I celebrate the couples we know who are big time hikers. They hike 18 miles into the wilderness in the blazing sun or pouring rain, bivouac in the open, and think it's an adventure when they stumble onto snakes, bears, or cougars.
That's not us. A "good" hike for us is pulling off at a paved lot, walking 5 minutes to an amazing view, snapping some cool shots, and walking back (and then, of course, getting a tee-shirt at the gift shop on the way out). Still, hiking is a FANTASTIC thing to do with your spouse. You get exercise, fresh air, inspiration, and a chance to really connect in ways you never do at home. So grab your spouse and tell them to "take a hike" (with you) today!
