Day 6: High Camp down Mweka Route to Mweka Gate.
After a very good night's rest, I woke up ready to leave the mountain. It was quite bittersweet though, because this was our home for 6 days, and all these people had become family. The guides and porters gave us a celebratory song and dance, so proud that we were all successful on Mama Kili. It was a very special and emotional morning.
Congratulations and thank you to the six of us that came together to experience this journey. I had only hiked with one other before, Tony (@tonyramosjr), and met another at the sixpack of peaks party from 2 years ago, Carisa (@5150crissy). The other 3 ladies, Monica (@monies_adventures), Ana (@anauslu), and Fabienne (@fabiennesandate), were complete strangers whom I met for the first time at LAX before our flight out there. This adventure we shared will forever be with me and am happy to have shared it with you all. Very proud of you all!
Asante sana to the men of Popote African Adventures who made us all feel taken care of. You truly are special and amazing human beings. You made us feel like a part of your family. I am forever grateful for this experience and will never forget this adventure of a lifetime.
