Scorchio, today's thirst quencher is @kernriverbrewing River Buddy pale ale. Good whiff of juicy hops when opening. Nice biscuity malt background. Peach, pineapple, mango and citrus show up and it finishes light piney with a medium bitterness. Good medium mouthfeel.
I honestly could have swallowed the glass without any liquid touching the sides but it doesn't take away the fact that this was a very enjoyable American pale ale. Not sure about the can design, brown is not a colour that excites me Mind you, I've had plenty of beers where more thought has went into the flashy design than the beer. Looks can be deceiving.
Yet another beer I bought and is still available @boxbeerscom . If anything I'm impressed with how fresh the beer I've had from them this week has been, no duds yet (Not an advert, just a shout out)
Apart from brewing I work for a housing association as a gardener in the summer. It's amazing what you can find in the cellars sometimes. In this instance 2 vintage wooden beer cases.
The tuborg one holds 52 bottles on their sides, weighing in at 42kg when full, must have been a helluva job delivering back then.
The rarer DDSF (the Danish spirit factory)one was used for transporting Snaps.
I'll either use these for my own beer or sell them, approx. worth 300dkk each, they are IN just now with the hip crowd.
Finally a warm sunny day here so after a sticky day at work i needed something light and chuggable. This @amundsenbryggeri /@toolbeer /@bruscph Natural Born Chillers (love the name) session IPA certainly fits the bill. At only 4.5% it is light bodied , lots of mango and pineapple and finishing with a low dry bitterness and citrus aftertaste.
Quafftastic, no problem drinking a few of these though I think I would chose the last amundsen I had, Chuggernaut, over this in a side by side. Skål.
Pick of the day is @pipeworksbrewing Lizard King pale ale. Bready backboned pale ale with lots of pineapple and mango. Citrus grapefruit finish with a medium bitterness, a touch of pine. Light carbonation, good mouthfeel. Really enjoyed this one, the full Available @boxbeerscom
Definitely not Slummin' it Monday ! I bought this one from what could become one of my favourite webshops @boxbeerscom . This @oldnationbrewing M-43 is fresh in the can and already lets its presence be known on the pour with a tropical hop vibe wafting up.
Slightly sweet intake with lots of tropical fruit and citrus, light acidic middle and a medium bitter dank pine finish. A cracking long lasting aftertaste.
Probably the best bought beer I've tasted since that northern monk hop city at Easter, though that crown may not last long, and a half.
Monday morning, up with the lark.Helping a friend out to brew something dark.#brewday today's brew a cascadian dark ale...I utter refuse the term black IPA, so stupid.
Sampling the beer on its way to the bottle, it reminds me of a regular "classic" here in Denmark, but for a first brew in quite happy so far.
Beercalc category it's light ale or in Danish beer judge rating it's more a 2A modern dark lager. #homebrewing#hjemmebryg#beer#danskeølentusiaster#ølbrygning
Still staying off the hop forward styles..with all the looks of a slummin' it Monday beer and options running low I opened this @svanekebryghus Reggae lager. Jamaican flagged label in the shape of Bornholm, the Danish island where this brewery is.
On the bottle it has the phrase ' dreadly, diverse and divine' ..well they missed out a D, Diacetyl, which is all over the taste of this lager., Butterscotch butterscotch butterscotch...unless it's intentional I don't get it. I normally quite like Svaneke beers, cheap and guaranteed middle of the road but this is ending down the drain.
#brewday at home.Today's brew is my own Hop Cabin Amager Hefeweizen.(rough recipe guide in the comments). Can't go wrong with a hefe as a crowd pleaser. I probably brew this more than any other beer in the spring/summer months. Here, there and everywhere.
Tip, when brewing at home use proper footwear when around your brewing rig, exactly as you would in a workplace with boiling liquids involved.
#beerfridgefriday having a break from the hop forward styles I'm having a bit of a laid back beer to kick the weekend off. This @krenkerupbryggeri Forår (spring) is very much a classic Dunkel. Very nice beer to look at in the glass.Lots of caramel, some fruit and spice finishing bitter.

A friend sent me this and asked what I thought of having a 500l brewery in just 4m2....I dunno who's it is, but it's genius imo. I would love to see it in action once the control panel etc is in place.
Today's pick is @maisel_friends IPA. Almost clear light amber with a biscuity backbone. Citrus and stone fruits and a medium bitter pine finish. I think it's ok, pretty much a playing safe brewed west coast IPA.
Two for Tuesday champions league warm up @mikkellerbeer Vesterbro Wit and Pils .
Wit is cloves, coriander, citrus and spicey. Smooth mouthfeel. No problems drinking this on a hot summers day watching the hipsters go by.
Pils has a good malty backbone, floral, some pine with a short bitter finish. Good. Both were in the April edition of #mikkellerbeermail
Ahhhh slummin' it Monday time again. This week's pick is @fuglsang_bryggeri Early Bird APA . A celebration of spring in Denmark....ok then, well spring sprung yesterday so I'll give it a whirl. Crystal malty on the intake. Marmelade, citrus and some florals. Mild bitter finish. I'm certainly not offended by it, would like to try it fresh. Funnily enough Fuglsang is also a Danish maltster, I use their pale and pils base malts...there, a useless fact of the day included.
I never normally drink on a Sunday (no really) but watching arsenal playing in red and white I opened the fridge and there in the back was a red and white can from @fourpure , a bit of an omen so needs must. Typical German tasting pils, easy drinking and makes you a lot happier after getting a glimpse of grumpy face Wenger.
Another @mikkellerbeer from this month's #mikkellerbeermail . Hair In The Mailbox IPA. Peachy on the aroma that follows through in the taste as well as stone fruits. Mouthfeel is bit soapy and oily for my liking. Not often I'd say this with a Mikkeller ipa but it's meh.
Half time at the football, time for a first pour taste test. This is a pilot brew Pineapple Mivvy IPA. Mivvy is/was a UK ice lolly with fruit ice outside/vanilla ice cream inside.( US = creamsicle) Lots of galaxy, mosaic and mandarina used for this. Grains were pils, melanoiden, wheat, flaked wheat and flaked oats. Added lactose.
Nods of approval but I'm not so sure, early days but needs a few tweaks.
#beerfridgefriday time to kick off the weekend. My first choice is @mikkellerbeer Wood Will Fall Down. A passion fruit Berliner weisse. Lots of passion fruit and citrus.Very tart, sour lemony sherbert finish. Really enjoying trying lots of Berliner weisse just now and this one also goes into my I'd buy again list. This one came from the April edition of #mikkellerbeermail
#firstpullthursday of my own Czech pils, metric recipe in the comments below. A long time project started in January, it has been lagering for 8 weeks taking up the space in the temperature controlled fridge in the cellar. I'm my worst critic but I can't find any flaws with it, no problem whatsoever putting this out.
Just noticed, photobombed by a cat
Trying another from Mexican @insurgentebrew , this time Dragula , a sweet stout. Lively bottle conditioned pour. Lots of coffee and chocolate, good roast bitterness. Mildly sweet finish. Only minus with this was it was overcarbonated, once I knocked the gas out was it more enjoyable.
Brewing a rye IPA tomorrow so picked this @sirencraftbrew Ryesing Tides rye IPA up as a refresher. Good spicy rye backbone, lots of citrus, tangerine and pine. Medium bitter finish, great lingering aftertaste. Excellent stuff.
Fancied something a bit different today so I've went for Danish @krenkerupbryggeri Rauch..with their brewmaster from Bamberg he should know what he is doing. Smoked beechwood malt on the nose which carries through, not overpowering everything else. Light bodied with a medium sweet finish. I've had this many times before, I'd class it a good beginners smoked beer.
Slummin' it Monday Easter edition. After last weeks extremely poor effort I played safe and went for @indslevbryggeri Påske hvede (Easter wheat) . I don't know what's Easter about it but all the usual hefe traits are here. Lots of banana and clove in the background, sweet slightly floral finish. Very middle of the road.
#brewday waiting on the boil while sampling my own yellow sub cream ale. Today's brew is just a house blonde to fill a keg up. Grains are Maris otter and flaked oats. Hops are magnum and citra with a little dry hop. Target OG 1.046 30IBU
Lively pour from this @insurgentebrew nocturna black IPA. Lots of roast and bitterness on the intake, grapefruit finish and aftertaste. Medium bodied. Not a bad intro into Mexican craft beer though I'm all hopped out after three nights of drinking sessions with the family, suffering badly with hop tongue or palate fatigue as some call it.
