I’ve been working my way across my bathroom shelf this week, sharing my favorite chemical free products and DIYs. Perhaps my favorite switch so far is my jar of make up remover pads!
We’ve been told for so long that oil is “bad.” Consequently, as a culture we have poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into oil-free cleansers that, along with other chemicals and astringents strip the natural, cleansing, and hydrating oils from our skin. Our skin then produces extra oil in response to help heal our skin, and we’re left with oily, irritated or infected skin.
I switched to this oil based cleanser and my face is clearer and softer than it has been in years! These remover pads are literally changing my skin, not just my routine, and they couldn’t be simpler to make! I use this remover every night and apply an oil serum every morning (I’ll share that recipe later this week!), and my skin is so clear!
Chemical-Free Make Up Remover Pads .
4 oz glass jar with lid
1 Sleeve of cosmetic cotton rounds
2 Tbsp + 1 tsp Fractionated Coconut Oil
2 Tbsp + 1 tsp Filtered Water
5 drops Lavender
2 drops Purification
Place liquids in bottom of jar and fill jar with cotton rounds to the brim. Seal with lid and let sit upside down overnight to saturate all the rounds. (Pads should be slightly moist. If you find they are soaked, add more rounds to absorb more liquid.)
To use: wipe pad in circular motion over face to remove eye and face makeups. Rinse with warm water and follow with favorite moisture or serum.
