Walla Walla's a sweet little town with a lively downtown area, cool architecture, very clean, absolutely gorgeous old homes, some Victorian, most with wonderful porches, of which I'm a particular fan!
We went to Adam West Day, strolled the entire length of the downtown area, went to the farmers' market, had lunch (the only disappointment, had been craving my favorite lox & bagel for weeks, I was sadly disappointed. Who the hell makes a whole grain salt bagel, gritty 'n chewy...bleccch!) However, on our way outta town I redeemed the food sitch by surprising David and stopping at the Worm Ranch, altho' the sign now says "Dora's Deli", for what reviewers said was the best and most authentic Mexican food. I had a delish veggie burrito and David had the chicken mole, which he said was very tasty. It's an interesting combo, bc the other part of their business is selling fishing licenses, bait 'n tackle!
This is the closest "big city" to where we are waiting out our truck repair, WW is 25-30 minutes due south. After the fun stuff we ran all over town to 5 stores getting our errands done. We may return in a week so I can see the Downtown Abbey movie.
If you're a small town fan and find yourself toodling through SE WA State, take some time to explore the towns and rivers of the Palouse Region.
