Spontaneous lunch in the new @honestburgers today. I often get asked if there are too many burger places in Bristol (I don’t think so) & what I think about it when another joint opens, & I always am open minded. I’d never tried Honest before today, I’d heard people raving and other people not so much - so the only thing to do was go for it for myself. I’m the Bristol burger fucking queen after all.
The menu has some strong burger choices, alongside different sides and sauces. I’ve seen their ‘Bristol’ burger doing the rounds on Instagram & although it looks banging, I wanted to try something else (I don’t like doing what everyone else does!) So I opted for the ‘Tribute’. Beef, bacon, American cheese, burger sauce, mustard, pickles, onion & lettuce. All burgers come with their rosemary fries as standard - but I couldn’t not ask for some of the Pilton cider & bacon gravy on the side to try too, as it’s fucking CIDER BACON GRAVY I MEAN COME ON.
My burger was decent; I personally prefer it more on the rare side, hence why it is pinker than what it would be normally. The patty was well seasoned, moist & very juicy. It held together nicely and tasted good. The rosemary fries were also very nice, I love salt and was pleased that these were fresh and covered in the stuff. I tried the bacon ketchup, curry & chipotle sauces which were all quite intense in flavour (my sort of thing, I enjoyed them). But *THAT* cider bacon gravy is something else. It’s a winner. Rich, intense and filled with chunks of meat, that was a bit of me.
I was really pleased with my burger & fries; simply put it was ‘honest’ ingredients done really well. The @goodchembrew honest drop is lovely and goes nicely with the beef and I also sampled the honest @microdistillery G&T. Well, because it’s Friday innit?! (Should I say honest again?)
